Yep Bob there were a lot of nice cars there. Not many old 40's mopars though. I saw the 4 door, didn't see the convertible you have pictured there, though I did see a desoto coupe. That was about it. Saw a lot of nostalgia drag racing with old gassers. It was very neat and worth the trip. The dragstrip there is very old school and a neat place to see a drag race. Beech bend raceway. Hey Bob I was there over the weekend and saw that 4-door in person. Also saw the before pics. He started with a stock p-15 that looked fairly solid and made a very nice car out of it.

I had the same problem Jim and it turned out to be an issue with the shift forks. I had a friend look at it with me and it seems I had one upside down. I compared those with the ones on my 3 speed manual I took out of the car and got it put in correctly. Had to take it back apart, but got it fixed.

Funny you asked what's in the trunk? I went to a cruise in Saturday night and took my girlfriend and her 3 year old daughter. She wanted to get in the trunk and sit. It reminded me of when I used to do that at her age. Here are some pics of my trunk. I used a roll of carpet from wally world and cut it to fit the floor. Then I used a rubber mat and cut it to fit the carpet. Glued them both together and it sits in nicely, doesn't bunch up. I did use a piece of cardboard and make a template before cutting out the carpet.

Chet I ordered the seal from roberts for the trunk handle. It fit well. You can also get the taillight lens gasket, it's just for the taillight lens, but I didn't use a gasket between the body and the taillights. I ordered the door bumpers which go above the front doors on the a pillar. Also the bumpers on the front fenders below the hood i bought from Roberts. Purchased door seals and cowl vent seal too. They have been on for over two years now and I haven't had any problems. I've got about $75 invested in it, so if it lasts for 5 years I feel like I've done good.

What a shame Don. I know exactly what car you are talking about. He always stays at the same hotel as I do for Frog Follies in Evansville. That is a super nice car. I just saw it again last month. I can't remember his name, but he is a nice fellow. Hate to hear he got hit.

Looks super slick. I remember when I finally got my car sanded and buffed, then started putting the trim back on. You are gonna be like a kid in the free candy store.

The overdrive is an excellent idea. Once you put it in you will notice a much more driveable car, especially at higher speeds. I can drive my car at 55mph now and don't have to listen to the engine scream. Also helps out with gas mileage too. I have the '52 plymouth version of the R-10 in my sedan and I love it. It was worth every penny.

I ran into the same thing Shel. It is no big deal as you can't see it, but when I checked it with my old gasket it was the same way. Maybe they are making a one size fits all.

Went by Gateway raceway this afternoon. I had to come up to Granite City on business today and looked like they are going to have quite a lot of drag racers. Saw a few cars heading to the car show too. Noticed a '41 Plymouth enroute on a trailer. I may have to check this show out sometime. I bought mine from inline tubing. You can get stainless or oem steel. They came out really nice and fit very well. I could have saved some money and bought the lines and bent them, but I never have had much luck with a flaring tool and I usually kink the lines. So I bought a set. The hoses you have to buy seperate though. Only the lines come in the set. I think this kit was a little over $100 at the time. http://www.inlinetube.com

Make sure you have the head checked for warpage, clean the surface up good, and torque, retorque, and retorque. I've checked mine three times since I did it two months ago. Want to make sure I don't pop one again.

I agree with Ed, try it. It isn't that hard to put it in. At least you can go ahead and get the wiring done and see what you have. Then you can diagnose if there is anything wrong with it and what you need to look for when you take it apart. When I bought mine it was said to have been rebuilt, but something must have been missed cause it wouldn't go forward or backwards with the OD cable in. So tore it down and found the problem and fixed it. I learned a lot about this transmission and could probably fix most anything that goes wrong with it now myself.

I bought mine from a local machine shop a little over a month ago. They had it the next day. Someone's got it, keep looking.

Just got back from the show yesterday. Uploaded all my photos and they are available for view. It was a great show as usually and weather was kind of hot, but not unbearable. Nice breeze most of the time. Enjoyed the drive over and back. Car ran great and had no problems. I met several other P-15 owners there. Met the owner of this '48 more door from south of Indy. It is a low mileage original car, has a few minor mods like OD and a 6 volt alternator. Told him about the forum and he said he would check it out. Very nice car. Went across the toll bridge at New Harmony, IN over the Wabash river. Neat old bridge, but very rough riding. Went to an antique car show on Sunday in Pinckneyville, IL. Usually go every year. Just went to look this year. Saw some nice cars. Probably the best two I saw were a '39 Studebaker truck and a '38 Hudson Terraplane pickup. The same gentleman owned both cars. Both were super clean. Several mopars and others. No P-15's this year. Didn't really see that many cars from the forties. A couple of Fords and Mercs. Seemed to be lots of '50 Chevies. If she likes frogs she will see plenty there. Lots of cool old cars and lots of frogs.

Looking very nice. Mine looked really good until I drove it a while. I have to touch it up every once in a while. Didn't help any when I had to pull the head a month ago either. Looks good, nice work.

That's actually a Dakota Digital dash Bob. They make digital dashes for lots of applications. It is pricey though. I added an aftermarket voltmeter and a temp gauge and put it under the dash. Below the ignition switch. My original temp gauge was no good so I had to replace it. I like the voltmeter and I still have the original ammeter so I can see both. I like what dndrodshop did with his indicators and dash. Very nice. It has been updated, but still has a retro look.
