  3. What is he using for the engine and transmission ?
  4. As far as I know they were black my 49 has them black and I am the 2nd owner it came from a old farm. I would guess some previous owner just painted them silver but that is better the letting them rust.
  5. This is the one I am planning on using by eci it goes in the same place as the original if you need a hanging pedal set up I think wilwood sells them http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/master_cylinder_systems.html
  6. I installed the gas tank on my 52 plymouth the previous owner had the tank sealed. I was have intermintent problems with stalling seemed like I was running out of gas but only sometime so after checking the float and other related items and knowing I only had the problem after I installed the tank I removed the tank and used air to blow out the filter. The air forced out what was left of a mouse which was partly blocking the filter
  7. Nothing I like better then a "old guy" showing the kids how its done.
  8. If you have sometime to read here is a long thread from the moparts forum on the subject Ed http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1
  9. 40 weight oil is heavy for winter try a lighter oil maybe a 20 or a multi type. I if only does not start when cold I do not think its the condenser although electronics are affected by temperatures. I would replace the condensor because its old and it sounds like the only part you have not changed.
  10. If it is somewhere on the internet when you post above the box you type is a menu pick the one with the earth and a n chailink when you click it you can paste the location form the site you want to link to
  11. There was is a change in head design sometime in the early 50's which is why the 2 different set ups since you have a 47 I would think it would be external but the engine or heads may have been changed over the years. Not really sure about switching thermostat housings I know you can use a internal water pump on both but a external is only to be used on heads with a external bypass hose.
  12. What you need to do is increase the size of the text on you browser at the very top should be a menu there you will see the word view click on it and you get a drop down that read text size from there you can increase the size of the text which will make the letters bigger and open on the lines. You may also be able to hold the control key down and hit the pluse key at the same time. I have increased the font size of this message to give you a idea what I am trying to say.
  13. As the others stated you need at least 2 pieces of equipment a tachometer and a vacuum gauge . When the engine is warm set rpm with tachometer and then set carb idle to get highest vacuum reading.A timing light would also be a useful item
  14. Here is a link to some information that may help you have to scroll down to get to where they talk about parts interchanging http://www.allpar.com/history/plymouth/plymouths-1949-1952.html
  15. As rockwood said ezwire is too small if you stay 6v if you go 12v then there kit looks to be the best price. I have a wiring harness from american auto wire for a pending project I think it is a better setup then ezwire but then its about a $100 more. I just finished wiring my 52 cambridge which is staying 6 volt I followed the suggestion of a few members here and purchased wire in spools mostly followed the wiring diagram but did upgrade a few systems to a larger size . Purchased wire at summit and some at napa got the connectors at walmart they had 3m brand at a good price. I guess I spent around a hundred in total. As I am not removing the headliner I rerouted some of the wires through the interior. Ed
  16. What you need is another 51 or 52 car to get the dash from. Cars are like that old saying about children theres always room for one more.
  17. sunbeam is that the little car Don Adams (aka86) use to drive in the old Get smart TV show. I always liked that car Ed
  18. what is in the rebuild kit last time I looked he was getting around $30 for a kit which I thought was a lot for a rubber diaphragm and a few gaskets. But I have about a 1/2 dozen pumps lying around so its time to fix them or dump them Ed
  19. About 2 years ago a friend purchased carpet for his 49 Dodge from JCW he was satisfied with the purchase. You could check with them also most vendors will send you samples if you ask
  20. Nice work,looks good
  21. Yes but they are expensive to buy if you can find one. The canister with the replaceable cartridge is the best way to go at least for a vehicle that is driven
  22. what comes up is not the imperial sight at least not the real Imperial club site just a link to some ads
  23. That is not a actual wiring diagram it is a basic how to make engine run diagram. You need to use a regulator unless you use a alternator that has a regulator built in.
  24. Steel rubber also has them about 1/2 down the page at the link. They have top and bottom for 48 but not 49 not sure if 48 and 49 bottom mounts are the same http://166.82.96.3/cgi-bin/v2.exe?yr=48&mk=CH&tp=ALL&pk=TN#models[
