  1. a parts manual I have for 51 shows the same number for the wheel cylinder piston, cup and boot only a different # for the front and rear springs
  2. The hood brace was added to the later models I think sometime in 48 they started installing them
  3. My personal choice is some muffler cement a piece of sheet metal and large band clamp . As far as glass pack or original your choice, any decent muffler shop should be able help or you could try roberts or kanter for a mail order option
  4. Here I is some information I copied from a old magazine on how to apply wood grain http://oldmopar.com/oldmopar/woodgrain.html
  5. I have found sellers on craigs list price items high because its free. I had made 2 purchases from there and both times the sellers accepted my offers which were quite a bit lower then the asking price.
  6. If the generator is in good condition you may be able to find one at a swap or ebay (but they are heavy so shipping could be a problem) that is not working and just swap the cases. Ed
  7. About 4 or 5 years ago I had a 49 Dodge that I was going to get aligned I spoke the who I think was the manager of the Goodyear shop on Rt 9 north in freehold around where the Friendleys is. I never got the job done and sold the car but since you are not that far away it may be worth asking but again it was back a few years and you would need the specs from the manual. Ed
  8. Last time I purchased new wheel cylinders I had got them from Roberts were about $34.00 ea for the rears as i recall fronts were less but this was a few years ago. You can check there catalog on line to get there prices then compare with NAPA while you are there. I have also used the wheel cylinder rebuild kits as rockwood stated you need to look and see if the cylinder is pitted. if its only slight you could hone the to smooth but if I see any pitting I usually replace the wheel cylinders. The master is a pain to remove but once its down I rebuilt a few most needed to be honed out or if no pitting just clean them up with some crocus paper. I would definanatly replace the brake lines and hoses I buy the lines at napa and bend them to fit not perfect but My thoughts are once I get my car going the next important thing is to stop Ed
  9. You will the correct puller sometimes when the puller will not remove the brake drum a trick is to try to drive it too loosen the drum but you still need the puller. I removed one a few years back that I was beating the handle of the puller with a 4lb and it still was tough to remove. I let it stay overnight mostly because i got tired of beating on it anyhow next day after another beating it finally came loose. The idea of keeping the nut on is to help keep the drum from flying off and hitting your body.
  10. I painted the front clip on a 79 GMC truck it came off another truck and was a different color. I used rattle cans and one of the spray can holders with a trigger set up (plastic cost about $3.00) looks ok to me but this is only going to be a work truck if I ever get it finished!
  11. When I posted this photo of the filter setup in my 52 Plymouth I think it was Norm who said the filter setup was avaiable from catalogs like speedway Ed
  12. Can't help with a replacement but here is a link to repair http://www.ply33.com/Repair/tempgauge
  13. you could also try Roberts and depending on what truck you have Vintage Power wagons. the other option is depending on the condition of the cylinders you may be able to rebuild the wheel and master cylinders. http://vintagepowerwagons.com/ http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/truck_parts.asp

  16. I have know the women get better looking at closing time but where you hang out you need to go home early.
  17. Ever wonder when you get water in your gas one time but not another. Many years ago I met a guy that worked on a tanker ship he told me when they lost suction they drop the hose in the ocean to get the suction going again. Not sure how much it actually adds to the shipment but something to think about
  18. I know there is a glue maybe the spray adhesive that tim suggested, that is use by crafters so you can hold a pattern on piece of wood and remove without damage to the surface. i like Norms coupe's idea with the scan and stick but I think the glue that use for sticky lables is perment and it may be hard to remove.
  19. Thanks Bob, I never what years they were that wagon is also interesting. Ed
  20. I always like Nash's a favorite was the car Lois Lane drove in some of the Superman shows/movies that was a convertible but only the top part went down door frames were still up Ed

  22. do not recall the size or even changing mine. I would think a auto parts would have the correct size . I know the napa by me sells a package with various sizes however if that does not work you should be able to get a bushing to fit the opening and a zerk fitting to fit the bushing
  23. Bob, I don't really like the stick on stuff. I will pull it when I can problem is the paint will come with it. I'm pretty sure I have some fender trim for a 49 Plymouth or I owned a while back I think it is a little different but will look better then the stick on stuff. Also may have some spare P15 trim maybe I can do some trading. Ed
