  1. Happy Birthday did you get any good presents ?
  2. I know you can use a starter from 57-60 flathead 6 they should be 12 volt from the factory your car would also need to be 12 volt. Not sure if a newer starter would fit maybe if you swapped the housing where the starter drive is ?
  3. The Truetone would a replacement or aftermarket item. Truetone was a store brand like sears used allstate Not sure but it may have been montomery ward or western auto store brand Ed
  4. I know speedway has both items listed in their catalog use the search box and type signal switch or mechanical brake switch , you will need to change to dual sockets if you car does not have them YNZ wiring has the sockets if you need them. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/ http://www.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/catalog_download.htm Ed
  5. Good story but I need to ask what are tea shouts is it like the American cup of coffee Ed
  6. Is the car also being mechanically restored or has that already been done; from what I read the discussion is about body work. Is he also rebuilding the engine, trans, rear, suspension, brakes etc. If not better add another chunk of money to budget.
  7. Not sure how the lights actually look headlights and tailights componets are not yet hooked up yet. The po had taken the car apart and never finished putting it back together. The wiring was tired so I replaced. Once I get the new sockets for the lights I will start getting the headlighs back in taillights will need to wait until I put the fenders on I had posted the question about the extra ground because I got to thinking it was a long way from the back of the car to the battery. Norm the relay set up you have for your headlights where did you get the 6 volt relays.
  8. Correct You can run a wire from the center light to the 2 tail lights and they should light when you step on the brake but to have it work like a newer type system you will need to install dual contact sockets and bulbs Ed
  9. I have been rewiring the 52 Plymouth the past week and have most of it done. I just finished running the headlight and taillight wires I plan on replacing the old sockets but now I am wondering if I run a separate ground wire back to the battery or where the battery ground connects to the body will it improve the lights and make them brighter ? Ed
  10. Hope thats a typo 20-$30,000 for paint?
  11. A few years back I needed a antenna for one of my newer vehicles PEP Boys had a antenna kit with different adapters to fit different openings. So you may want to look around a little before you adjust the fender opening
  12. Here is a link to one of the larger dealers of old radio supplies. Has just about everything you will need. Ed http://www.tubesandmore.com/
  13. I have a black one like that I had purchased some papers at a auction and the papers were in the case. Never thought much about it I did keep the case to keep my timing light, vacuum, compression gauges ect in it
  14. True but I will still be out the money and maybe a ebay deal could be tracked down. But other deals are I give you the money I get the car. No one ever asked me for any proof of who I am they just take the money.
  15. Cash is good if your the buyer now if you are the seller and when you get to the bank you find out its counterfeit then you lose again. The whole thing can make you crazy.
  16. The radio has capacitors to filter out the hum if it does not clear up after a few minutes they will need to be replaced. There is a small one on the generator which may need to be replaced. If that does not clear it up then then there are some in the radio that will need to be replaced. As I recall the vibrator converts dc to ac as Greg pointed out but it is the capacitors that filter out the hum. Below is a link to a sams drawing I have on my website someone here, sorry I forgot who had scanned and posted a while back its in a PDF format and is a slow connect take a few minutes to load on my computer I also have a link to the radio manual from the Pilothouse web site. http://oldmopar.com/radio.html
  17. I know you checked the plugs after the change so was it leaking before you changed the fluid or if you checked the fluid before you changed it, was it low. In any case best thing is to wipe it down real good and jacking it up from different angles may help to find where it is coming.
  18. There is a listing at the POC classifieds of someone parting out a Plymouth http://plymouthbulletin.com/noahsclassifieds/index.php?method=showhtmllist&list=classifiedscategory&rollid=13&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&clearoff=1
  19. In the close up of the engine I see a blower motor on the firewall trying to figure why. Seems like that would only pull in engine fumes so anyone have a answer ? Ed
  20. I have a Lincoln wire welder forget what model something like 155. Had it a few years is a 220 volt machine from what I read they run longer and work better. I used it for a few repairs on a truck and on a lawn mower. Not much experience welding so my welds look bad. I went with a name brand I figured parts, repairs and resale would be better.
  21. A rare item like that should go for a 100,000 at least. attached are my Mopar flashlights small one is 12V spot is 6V
  22. It's not hard to find a correct replacement for you carb them are at swap meets and ebay. You should be able to find one for 10-20 then get a rebuild kit around $35-40. The P15 used a D6G1 but a D6H1, D6H2 should also work
  23. Interesting concept but if I was doing that much work I would have used a 318
  24. Also try Macs I use to use them when I had a Model T http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?userwatch~dynamicSearchPage~cadeffcD
  25. The late 40's ford suppliers are always a good place to check also the stainless rear fender welting and pretty sure wheels should fit our cars. If you look at the fords they look similar, except when you compare prices, so I would think other body parts may fit depending how concerned you are about keep your car 100% original.
