  1. Nice score on the truck. Not too bad looking for being in the 'valley'. (for those not familiar with our 'valley', think in terms of a 'swamp'... ) Good to hear that Steve and Cody (Father-Son) still have 'plans' to get back to it. Sadly though, on some forums, they simply disappeared and other folks in your area who tried to connect with them simply found them 'gone', w/o explanation. Kinda make some folks leery.
  2. The photos of the tire molds are quite interesting...did you have a chance to talk with Cody? They disappointed a lot of folks when they, very suddenly, quit making tires.
  3. I can relate. I lost a nephew about 25 years ago in similar fashion. No answers, just questions.
  4. ...hhhmmmm....what would I do......? probably move......
  5. In a vaguely dissimilar similar fashion, I bought a 50 Windsor a few years back that came out of North Dakota. I found a 1956 receipt for a tire purchase and the customer had my same last name.
  6. Any photos of the gm box installed?
  7. I had an opportunity to visit with Bill and Mike last week....those guys do some amazing work in an incredibly short time. While I am not so impressed with gm parts Mike redeemed himself when he showed his 32 coupe sporting a 331 Hemi. The Plymouth is an amazing piece of work!
  8. No, I don't have the answers, but as there are several sources for disc brake swap you might ask the others about the wheel fitment issue. http://rustyhope.com/site/ http://www.aajbrakes.com/
  9. Very Good! Strange how the carb make more noise than the fan....of course it could just be my hearing.....
  10. Bringing this thread back to ask traveller816 how his search/swap project is going.
  11. It would, of course, be a lot less work to simply replace the L6 with another L6 assuming that the trans is in good operating condition; but, how do you know what the trans is like if the engine is dead? Are you willing to make the engine swap with the possibility of needing to remove everything a second time to replace the trans? Keep in mind that your car has the 250 ci engine, also called a 25", (or at least should have) so you will need to keep in mind what engines you consider. Keep your tape measure handy as you poke around the bone yards if a newer engine is considered; most ohv I-6 will be much longer than the L6.
  12. At $6500 someone got a helluva deal.
  13. ...some people sweat by the t-5 and some swear at them..... Here is an option: http://p15-d24.com/topic/17737-5-speed-not-t5/
  14. ...given the thread title, I'm curious which parts you mixed-n-matched....
  15. The verbiage says "1948" but his sig line says '1949'....maybe just a case of fat fingers.
  16. If you feel a need to replace all of the pistons and plan to get them in the States then maybe consider moving into a forged piece so you can bump the c/r a bit...
  17. Yes. PM sent.
  18. ...what a dick.
  19. "I'm from the government......I'm here to help"
  20. Just yesterday I cut the ends off of a 49 Dodge shaft. For the price of a flat-rate usps box you can have them.
  21. For drums and backing plates contact www.wildcatmopars.com 503-668-7786 ask for Ed. Vanessa is also great help. Last year I gave them the remains of a 55 Dodge that had all of the suspension intact.
  22. ...... seems to think works fast and easy   Fast. Cheap. Easy. Pick two This is the kind of listing that we see listed on craigslist as "un-finished project, need to sell quick", and although the OP indicates that it may well be a p.o.s. it will still suck up resources of one kind or another that could be used on the 'other' project. Maybe being a grey beard (white actually...) provides me with a different view from other folks. Maybe other folks have too much disposable income...
  23. There is more to an auto trans swap than just an adapter. You will also need 12v for the starter and you will need to connect the 'kick-down' (what-ever gm calls it) and some shift linkage. The th350 has a lot of parasitic loss that will affect the L6 output. The 9" rear sure seems to be overkill in the weight dept and it also has higher parasitic losses than other hypoid designs (like the 7¼ Mopar). $800 for an adapter?? Is the car worth that much? Your direction is certainly not where most of us would head but, as said, your money-your car.
  24. As stated, any air moving around the radiator will not go through the radiator, where it needs to be. Before doing much else I'd mount a thermometer under the hood and get an actual number for the air temp. I have heard of similar concerns; using small radiator mounted fans does not seem to move air well through the rest of the compartment.
  25. Off-setting the engine to the pass side 2" will have zero effect on just about everything. Just keep in mind that the engine trans package must move....imagine a straight line through the crank and out through the tail shaft...and a similar line through the frame rails. These lines must be parallel. Yes, the u-joints will be fine with the offset. Does 2" solve the problem? Will a 'peanut' starter then help solve the problem? How much more movement would solve the problem?
