  1. Hey DJ - The info provided on their web site doesn't indicate if this is a latching type relay. From my very basic knowledge on this subject, headlight relays require constant power to remain latched. Will need latching style in order to use a momentary switch.
  2. Thanks for that. I've been thinking about this and realized that I got a 12v step up transformer in the car to run some convenience stuff. I am thinking that I will find a modern 12v latching relay and use power off the step up transformer to run the relay.
  3. Hey DJ, Yeah exactly, 6V... Had the shift-rite for ages and would like to get it connected. Been talking to Greg G on the phone lately about his install and its got my electrons flowing to get this solved. Bought a couple VW relays off ebay and they've arrived DOA... hesitant to try that route again. Any national vendors sell these? Mark
  4. Hey Robin - How'd this work out? Can you share your source? thanks, Mark
  5. Wish I could, not enough vacation time this year. Couple more years and the early retirement kicks in, then we'll be a little more mobile. Enjoy, hope to catch up with you at some point. - Mark
  6. Yes, very hard pedal after only a couple pumps. Feels as if the brakes are dragging. Think you guys are spot on with the pedal free play. My guess is my mechanic did not adjust free play after installing and resetting concentric.
  7. No never touched the free play, but all things point to this being the problem. The shop that did the brakes for me last year had the car for the non-start issue and asked me if I have done anything to the brakes as well. The car literally has been in dead storage except for one recent run to the auto body shop. I’m guessing the 10 miles I drove it was enough to create the issue. Also guessing the free play was not re-adjusted after four corners were done by my mechanic.
  8. Had an issue arise over the weekend in the process of shifting the convertible from the body shop over to the storage unit in waiting for the new interior to be installed. Had a starting problem that was turned out to be glazed points and a weak coil, and noticed the brake lights were on as it was being worked on. The car also has a very hard brake pedal and the brakes seem to be dragging. All four corners got new brakes and cylinders last summer, although the car has not been driven more than 100 miles since. One of my buddies thinks the fluid in the reservoir expanded and that was triggering the pressure switch for the lights. A good triple stomp on the brake pedal offered no remedy to the condition. I rebuilt the MC myself, but am thinking that the internal passage for the brake fluid return may be clogged. Anyone have suggestions as to a remedy before I pull the MC and buy a replacement?
  9. Editted to fit more of us in .
  10. Welcome! Will you be attending the p15 picnic this year? A couple of us Americans are going.
  11. Dug mine out of her shed this morning as well, and drove her to work. She got 15 minutes of highway time, just enough to blow off the winters dust accumulation. Supposed to be 100% washout weekend here in central Massachusetts, so it wasn’t a hard decision to make, and it’ll make the drive home a little more enjoyable today.
  12. That’s borderline hoarding right there... nice collection though. Ive started my collection of goodies for a future 230 build. No specific timeline, it will happen when I get the finned head and a few other things.
  13. Wall to wall and treetop tall. Powerline was the handle, TRC-490 chip modded and jail broke transmitting from a 15m tri-axial base tower at home. On the road I had CB's in almost every vehicle I owned until cell phones became the rage. Moved three times since I took the tower down, but still have all the gear. Someday it may go back up with a new radio shack in the garage. Fond memories for sure. Little known fact, I met my brother in law on the CB and he introduced me to my wife.... 32 years ago! I've been looking at buying a new set for the Sedan and installing a nice whip.
  14. Very interesting... Love to hear and read about the old school aftermarket creative thinking.
  15. Just a though but I wonder if anyone has tried sourcing from the more popular repopped stuff... for instance, might it be that this would work...? Honestly from one car to another in the 40's, I suspect floor pan dimensions would have been darn close I think. http://www.lmctruck.com/features/fa/FAC23.htm
  16. There is one on ebay right now... only issue is the price is half what you paid for the OD... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1946-1947-1948-PLYMOUTH-FRONT-FLOOR-MAT-MOPAR-RUBBER-PLIABLE-SPECIAL-DELUXE-P15-/172223570162
  17. Greg I bought a 18" speedo cable extension off ebay. I didn't want the OEM cable to be stressed with the reach.
  18. Unscrew the old and screw in the new, at least that’s all I did. Fluid is not under pressure with no feet on the pedal. Fluid loss should be minimal.
  19. Significantly shorter due to the lower windshield.
  20. Thom a couple of guys I was chatting with a couple weeks ago suggested that I look into plaid wool blankets. Might be an option that is more affordable.
  21. Thom - SMS Auto Fabrics makes Highlander cloth, I had looked into this as a potential for my convertible interior, as inserts to reduce the leather cost. However it proved to be only a minor change, so I decided to go all leather.
  22. 2014 Silverado z71 LTZ 1500 - Trailer is 18 feet long. I’ve towed a 67 Cadillac back from Syracuse to my place in central Mass with no problems, however I’ve decided when I trade this one in next fall it will be for a 3/4 ton version. I love the half ton ride, but with a load the springs are too soft. I’ve done helper spring in the past and air bags on the rear as well (this is the 10th GM truck I’ve had) but I can’t justify making these upgrades five years into ownership.
  23. Gray looking car John, looks like the one I picked up in Boston this past February. Any clue what they want for it?
  24. Two words of advice mentioned at length above... BATTERY CABLES....
  25. One of my cars is a first series ‘49, p15 sedan. Was sold new at a dealership in coast Rhode Island. Came of the line Feb of 49, and delivered to the dealer in April of 1949. It’s always been titled as a 48. Not sure controls were as strict back then as they are now, locals probably had made lots of paperwork decisions that normally wouldn’t fly today.
