  1. I’ve been lucky to find breaker plates NOS on eBay for not too much money. Also points and condenser as well. You’ll just have to know the distributor model.
  2. Had a great first time myself as well. Came home with a few treasures including the rarer than hens teeth distributor mount for my 1928 Chrysler model 52. Also grabbed this exhaust whistle that I’ll install on her at some point. All in all a 10 out of 10 experience for me. I’ll definitely do it again, but I think a folding micro bike will help alleviate some of the walking.
  3. Unfortunately I’ve heard of more roadside issues than success stories. But that’s to be expected. Do yourself a favor and carry your old points as a backup.
  4. Several companies selling these online and eBay. Just make sure you order LED marker light for the front as well as rear. And don’t forget to order the correct positive ground flasher. I just ordered mine from LEDLIGHT.com

What a fantastic time we all had! Many thanks to Greg G for being the chief organizer this year. The hotel, the itinerary and the area for this years picnic was superb! Thanks to everyone who made the trip part of their vacation plans for the year. Thanks also to Gordon for joining us with his business coupe at the North East Auto Museum. We’re not sure where we’ll be headed next in 2025, stay tuned for more details! Hope to see more of you join in.
  6. Hey Rich, it took me 58 years but I’ve finally managed to book in some time for Hershey. Me and a friend from Finland are picking up another friend who’s flying in from the Middle East and will be starting our Hershey odyssey on the 8th and will be there for three full days. We’ve rented a space in the chocolate field (CZ32) from a buddy to park my truck close to the goods. Will try to find you and say hi.
  7. happened to come across this letter on the Mopar insider website. Figured it was appropriate to share on this thread that I started. cheers, mark A Letter to the People: Saving Chrysler – A Call to Action A Call to Investors and Workers to Rebuild the Automaker... I am writing to you today not just as a concerned citizen but as someone with a deep, personal connection to one of our nation’s most iconic brands. My great-grandfather, Walter P. Chrysler, founded the Chrysler Corporation in 1925, a company that has since become a cornerstone of American automotive history. As we approach the 100th anniversary of Chrysler, with plans for what could be the largest gathering of Chrysler products ever seen in North America at next year’s Chrysler Carlisle event, I believe the time for change is now. And I am ready to lead that change. For the past 45 years, I have proudly served as a Brand Ambassador for Chrysler. I’ve seen the highs and lows, the triumphs and challenges. But today, I believe we are at a critical juncture. The Chrysler brand, once a symbol of innovation and American ingenuity, is now at risk of fading into obscurity due to what I believe are poor decisions and mismanagement by its current owners, Stellantis. Stellantis, a company that seems out of touch with the American market, has allowed sales to decline, delayed new product launches, and put the livelihoods of our dealers and workers in jeopardy. Prices are soaring, layoffs are looming, and the future of the brand hangs in the balance. Meanwhile, Stellantis’ CEO, Carlos Tavares, earns a staggering $39.5 million salary, a figure that seems grossly out of proportion given the struggles facing the company. My great-grandfather was hired by General Motors (GM) in 1911 to save the failing Buick brand. Within a few years, he turned Buick into GM’s most profitable division. But even back then, poor management decisions, like investing in impractical projects, threatened to derail his efforts. This mirrors the situation today, where Stellantis’s investments in ventures like Archer Aviation seem to distract from the core business of building great cars. These funds would be better spent on revitalizing the Chrysler brand. The current management at Stellantis, overseeing more than 15 different brands, cannot give Chrysler the necessary attention. The result? Mediocrity at best. And now, with the potential entry of Chinese automaker BYD into the U.S. market, our industry faces an even greater threat. The influx of cheap cars could devastate our manufacturing base, and this is not just a possibility—it is a fact. I was hopeful when Christine Feuell was appointed to lead the Chrysler brand. But year after year, we see Chrysler’s products being pushed further down the priority list while slow-selling brands like Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati receive more attention. Chrysler has deep roots in the American market, serving as a reliable and accessible option for the middle class. Does Stellantis understand this? Chrysler needs new products now, not tomorrow, not next year—now. Recently, United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain criticized Stellantis and Carlos Tavares for failing to honor contracts. I stand with our workers, but it’s clear that the current approach is not working. Stellantis and GM are pricing themselves out of the market, and layoffs seem inevitable. This is a situation that cannot continue. But I am not without hope. I am confident that investors will see the potential in resurrecting this historic brand. My vision is to bring Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, and Ram back as an American-owned company that focuses not only on profits but also on the people who build these cars. I propose creating a new Chrysler Corporation, with workers as part-owners of the company. This would give them a stake in the success of the company and ensure that their jobs are secure. This plan would also allow Stellantis to save face by exploring all options while offloading Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, and Ram to a company that truly cares about their future. This is not just a business opportunity but a chance to restore pride in an American icon and secure the future for thousands of workers. The situation is dire, but with the right leadership and a clear vision, I believe we can turn things around. The time for action is now, and I am ready to step up and save the brand that my great-grandfather built. With the support of investors and the commitment of our workers, we can ensure that the Chrysler name lives on for another 100 years. Sincerely, Frank B. Rhodes, Jr.

    Jumper

Caution that you shouldn’t fully connect to the starter terminal. Momentary contact is usually enough to get the starter to turnover. This momentary contact allows quicker removal from the post when the motor starts so the starter motor can retract and disengage.

    Jumper

Yes it will work, although many might disagree. Jumper pack positive clamped to the block or other convenient ground, then with key on briefly touch the negative jumper pack cable to the top of the starter cable post.

Happy to report that the rooms we reserved went fast. We added a few more with the hotel, so if you’re thinking about it please reach out if you don’t see rooms available. We are contemplating a second hotel so don’t let availability at our first hotel prevent you from coming.

  17. I’ve got a redirad (https://redirad.com) in my ‘47 convertible and it works real well, combined with a cheap blue tooth receiver transmitter plugged into it. However I just came up with the following setup for my ‘57 Caddy. The first three images show the AM transmitter I found on eBay. Seller details in the third photo, technical description in the second photo. It’s powered by a 9v battery which lasts a few hours of play time. The unit comes with a 110v to 12 adapter for home use. You will need to purchase a blue tooth receiver transmitter (last photo) to receive your audio broadcast from your phone, or use the mini phono jack to connect directly to your device. Price for the two devices set me back about $80 via eBay. I set these up in my caddy glove box and it does a pretty good job since the antenna is near the glove box. You might need to experiment with the antenna location for best reception. good luck!
  18. … as a side, and If my memory serves me correctly, packard had a starter solenoid with a built in starter button located under the hood.
  19. your welcome to visit anytime!
  20. Wife and I just moved from Massachusetts to Eastern North Carolina (New Bern area). At least five or more regular cars and coffee and evening cruise events every month throughout the year. Took me a few years to figure out after buying the house in 2014, that I’m surrounded by car guys and most of them are from the northeast! I just built a 32’ x 64’ pole barn shop for my cars down there. We have property in Maine and a cottage in Mass for the summers. Options are always good, so there’ll be a classic dragging behind me for the next 20 years.
  21. You’re missing the little brass ferrel that goes in there.
  22. I and Mr. Robin Weathersbee (our graphics guru extraordinaire) appreciate your noticing the details. Yes, appropriate to the period of the P15! ????

SO, Please plan to arrive a day or two in advance or to stay on past the end of the picnic to see the sites and attractions at the falls. Our "Pic-Nic" is going to be a real special Saturday evening and is still in the planning. Questions? Concerns? Comments? Suggestions? Drop me a email and I'll do my best to get back to you promptly. mark@rdusaclassics.com Looking forward to seeing a lot of you return to this years cruise, and to meeting many more of you that will join us for the first time.
