  1. Good 'ole wd40... Actually that's the first thing I bought for my traveling road kit along with a few basic tools and a can of either. Haven't delved to far into the switch yet other than the basics. Next week I'll attempt to remove the switch cover and test for power after I've stabbed the socket. Come to think of it... Since its a positive ground car, would the voltage be on the socket side or the pin? This reminds me I have to order up a few 6v bulbs spares.
  2. Thanks gents. I'll just have to test conductivity at both ends and hope it's a loose connection and not a short. Also appreciate the upholstery knowledge. I'll be ordering up some replacements from the hotel suite this week, hoping it all gets home before I do in a week. - M
  3. Sittinng on a six hour flight from Boston to Los angeles, so I have some time on my hands. Reviewing a few pictures I took over the week and planning my refurb attack on Ruby. Was wondering what the frayed trim is called in the following link... http://www.flickr.com/photos/7526098@N04/5503263328/in/photostream/ Also can anyone tell me what how the wire is routed for the interior light? Does it originate under the dash? How does it enter the B pillar, from above or below? Switch is a little tough to move, but seems to function. Checked the bulb too and it seems ok. I've read there aren't many fuses in a p15, and pha net spent much time under the dash yet. Happy motoring, Mark
  4. Some excellent looking campers in this thread. Great inspiration gents. I've got an old utility trailer in back of the shed just dying for a new life. Maybe the start for a nice little tear drop.
  5. Hi Bob - This photo taken in front of our town library yesterday. I also uploaded a bunch of photos to photo gallery that can be found by following the link from my user name. Every time I'm with the car I take a few more reference photos so I can search for replacement parts with out having to drive two towns over to the garage where I have the car stored. Let me know if you have difficulty finding that and I will post a link. - Happy motoring! - Mark
  6. Great looking rig in the photo and the Wanderlodge in the link is awesome too. Back in the day that was the best money could buy and it shows with so many still on the road today. Spent plenty of time in one of those Aljo's as a kid. Tease my parents to this day that they could sleep 10 people in that little rig as compared to the 39 foot 5th wheel they drag around today that sleeps a convenient 2 people! (ie: no grand kids) Love to see a close up photo of your bumper hitch some day. Happy motoring/camping! -M
  7. A few years ago when I started my search for a P15, I came across this set of build-it-yourself plans on ebay as published by Science & Mechanics Magazine. It clearly shows a late 46-48 P15 towing their version of a "Trail Scout" camper. So I decided, what the heck, bid and won the auction for short money. I was wondering if anyone has any expirience towing a camper with a P15? It appears from the image that they only used a bumper mounted hitch, unlike the common frame mount we see today on modern rides. I'm guessing from the construction methods on the plan that this camper would have weighed in at close to a thousand pounds dry with probably a tongue weight of close to 300 pounds. Interested to hear more about this subject. Someday I may just undertake this little project...
  8. afternoon everyone... Well here's what you're all looking for. (providing I figured out the attachment feature correctly!) Enjoy
  9. Took my '48 S/D out for a ride today. Would have never been able to do that without the gracious help of a fellow member. Thanks again Moose! Great meeting you and seeing your collection as well. Appreciate the pointers. I did go right down to napa and got a new battery, But the fuel pump was out of stock. That will have to wait until I return from this next business trip. But I did install the new battery and she turns over without effort now. Brought my daughter along with me Later in the day and she had a blast. I had her take a photo while we where out. Will post that later. Loving the spring weather here in mass today. Hope you all are as well.
  10. Hello from a fellow Mass resident! We're not too far apart, as I live in Bolton, MA. Just got myself my first p15. It's a '48 S/D, and like yours a four door. Im the third owner and not as lucky as you are to have the history of your car. Drove my car twice since i got it and i just cant wait for the snow to melt so i can get out in her more often. Maybe we'll meet on the road sometime. My moms side of the family is all from that area. By the way you should look up the massachusetts group on this site and register, maybe we can have a Plymouth meet up this summer. Cheers & happy motoring!
