  1. Sounds to me your solenoids are Not the ford type where one pole goes to the coil for hot starts. There are that type and the one where the second small wire goes to a ground. Quite different. Ford type should be labeled as to what the terminal go. The second type does not. Just a thought. DJ
  2. Looks too nice for Paul- Not nearly enough patina, No burned off paint and has floors also! DJ
  3. To me- At first glace the back portion of the roof made me think of the 57-58? ford retractable hard top convertibles and they used most of one put on reversed! The emblem on the side reminded me of me of the ford ranchero emblem. Way to much Furd!!! DJ
  4. What type of fan do you use? Do you have a radiator fan shroud? Can make a big difference. Hold a piece of paper -say 8x10 up to the front of the radiator with engine running. Will it stay in place when let go? If so try a rag. It should also stay in place if the air flow through the radiator is enough at idle. Just some thoughts. DJ
  5. Is this After the cleaning and spray can rebuild?? Block squared the valves redone? I tired now and I'm sure I'm missing somethin' Maybe just me! DJ
  6. If you Have spark at the coil big wire to a ground when cranking then the Pertonix Is electronically making and breaking the connections between the smaller Neg. and pos. at the coil. That is all it does and replaces exactly what points do. When the spark comes out of the coil it is directed back to the distributor cap where the rotor makes the connections to the correct plugs as it turns. Tells me you have a problem with the dist. cap or the rotor. Check the button (spring loaded in the dist, cap center) or a broken or not turning rotor (broken idexing lug inside rotor?) Things to check. Happy hunting, does not sound to hard- hope! DJ
  7. Diodes? Did you mean resistors? If so did not work for me as the dual horns use too many amps for the resistors that I could afford. If there is a way to do this I would like to know, otherwise the 6 volt horns work on 12 volts just very loud! Just change the horn relay and use very heavy wire to and from the relay. Some horn tuning may be required. DJ
  8. And you are thinking getting the bolts out can be a challenge, wait until it's time to put them back in! My vote would be remove the water pump with fan still on -way easier in the long run. Socket (magnetic type is best) and universals and long extensions will get them all out and back in. My 50 4 dr. radiator replacement was not a fun job but required. Did it by myself and I am not very flexible these days. Get er done! DJ
  9. Priorities first- Vacation or spend money and time on a motor rebuild! Check spring tensions? Sounds expensive! I'm frugal! Sorry Paul, I promised to be nice to you. DJ
  10. without trying to get deep into this- ARP gives different specs as to torques as with and without their thread lube- they feel that is that slippery as it does affect the required torques. I for one have always lubed head, rod and main bolts with motor oil and torqued to factory specs. Gas and diesel motors. My opinion only- 30 years construction equipment mechanic- small and fairly large. Few engines are really touchy about this. Oh ya, never have seen lock washers or flat for that matter on main bolts. Some may have-just my experience. DJ
  11. I was thinking the same thing when I read the measurements but I checked Andy Bernbaums (oldmoparts.com) and they list up to 0.030 for mains and 0.040 for the rods. I read into that they are available in general up to 0.040 for the rod ends. I did Not do any further checking however. DJ
  12. But then they most likely have charged extra for the oil(?)! DJ
  13. Paul has done at a great at hiding all the still burnt more hidden parts! Well he is not hiding the outside, but?? Not sure if I would ride in it! Not sure if the outside would look better with a spray (rattle can) paint job or not? Paul I am completely pulling your leg! Sorry if I pulled the wrong one? DJ
  14. My opinion- If they go in straight two plus turns and tighten and do not leak grease when they are lubed- you are good to go. They never (almost) tighten down to a flush fit. If one does I would be suspicious of if leaking grease out when lubed. DJ
  15. Maybe one of these?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-Performance-Master-Cylinder-Reservoir-Remote-Style-Plastic-White-Cap-Kit-/192143239256 http://www.ebay.com/itm/MASTER-CYLINDER-REMOTE-FILL-RESERVOIR-CAP-KIT-ALUMINUM-MASTER-CHEVY-FORD-/262915516831 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Helix-HEXMCRR3-Remote-Brake-Reservoir-Cap-and-Hose-for-Corvette-Master-Cylinder-/311782278182 Many more choices on ebay. DJ
  16. NO. Switch only connects one to the other. None are grounded or otherwise!. Good luck, DJ
  17. Does you car have a rear seat? Maybe Bertha Butt ( distant cousins of the Kardashians) and her sister regularly rode in it?? DJ
  18. Got it. Thanks, DJ
  19. Q. What holds on the outer cover?? Tks. DJ
  20. $15-20 at a Harbor Freight for what it's worth to you in your area? Take the battery to a local parts place and get a free test?? Many chain stores do this for Free. DJ
  21. On the new pump remove the bolts that hold the back plate on and put some gasket sealer on both sides of that gasket and then some on the outer gasket both sides. I had very, very bad luck with using hi temp silicone sealer on the surfaces! All leaked then needed to redo with Permatex type gasket sealer- (aviation type if I remember). All well now for 4 years. DJ
  22. Pretty darned nice! Any reason no motor pictures? DJ
  23. The Mopar 1950 Parts book is the best parts and of orientations of parts illustrations that I have found for these years. Covers the D33 and D34 models for your perusal. They are avail. on ebay or other sources by searching-1950 mopar parts book. Usually about 50-60 bucks. Well worth it if you do not know these well. Happy hunting! DJ
  24. No has mentioned that upholstery shops also have a machine that makes steam that is used as needed to gently heat materials that will stretch some to work out wrinkles . The material tightens up as it cools= No wrinkles, and they have the experience you cannot buy in any book. DJ
  25. I would add jumper cables. For a long distance trip- add fuel pump, water pump, oil? DJ
