  1. Dan, TKS for your insights into the axle/transmission components. I have purchased a running engine and a 2nd non running one w/o the tin so that is covered I will need to determine what pan this "custom " Buggy is built on so will not get that axle component just yet. I purchased a 1970 VW new. A great car.
  2. It was a long, tedious day. I could remove the frame now, but need to stop, rest, and reset. One can easily male a critical mistake by pushing too hard.
  3. TKS, on eastern USA mountain roads may well have been very rocky. So I wonder if these were not added in certain areas of the market
  4. So EXPLAIN. WHA ARE LOWER SHOCK GUARDS!
  5. I too want to remove my truck cab and install new body mounts, but like you. It is is use.
  6. What are they, the accordion rubber dirt sleeves?
  7. Bud, I to am returning to a delayed project. I need to get my Suburban off my mind, so each day will do something progressive until it is a driver. Will be 80 in September so I must start cleaning up on pending projects. I will be watching your progress. My Suburban on blocks, hope to roll the frame out tomorrow.
  8. Can any one read these markings. I read it as 3.9F
  9. No plug on the end no number by the plug.
  10. My differential is so cruded over I don't know where to start to find the ratio number. Can it be in different locations?
  11. All rubber body mounts will be replaced. I will remove the steering wheel post to eliminate that clearance problem. To be continued. . . .
  12. There are not too many of us who would recognize that milking machine. It was mfg'd by Surge and hung under the cows belly from a belt placed around the cow. Dad had two of these. My older bro and I milked up to thirty cows twice a day, wthe such, circa 1951 - 1957. Then we separated out the cream ,sent and sold to butter creameries, and I fed the fat free milk to the small young calves.
  13. Yesterday, Adam p15d24 from San Bruno, dropped by on his way to Bakersfield. He showed me how to remove the body from the frame by raising the entire car by the frame, block up the body, then lower the chassis and remove it. So today I raised the car, tomorrow I will block up the body, lower the chassis and roll it out. I'm slowly getting back to the shop but have to really pace myself. Once the chassis is back in my shop, then I can clean the frame, run fuel and brake lines, install the exhaust pipe and muffler, fix the rear brakes all from above. Wish me luck. I must finish this car and move on.
  14. I too had a 24/7 headache years ago. It quickly subsided when I retired. Welcome back,
  15. Since I have rebuilt a Plymouth and a Dodge, to transfer what I have learned to a neutral vehicle and one that my grandkids will rebuild seems appropriate in the "off topic" forum. Yesterday I hauled the body home. All I know at this movement can be found in these pictures. Tip will not work on this until my Suburban is sold, but I will start looking for parts. It needs the engine, transmission, transaxle, minimum. I have bucket seats, fuel tank, rims and street tires, all kinds of electrical switches, lights so there you have it. (to be continued)
  16. It has an unusual ash tray, I vote auound $500. I would lay 2.crisp - $100 bills on the fender, then silently add $50 bills and slow down at. $400. I would pick all the bills up at $600. Good luck. It does look like a winner Truck and only you know how deep you pockets are.
  17. I found motion sensor devises on the net, so I can keep my cat in the truck bed. TKS anyway Tim, I think!
  18. It seems to me there are warning systems that detect moment that is too close to the vehicle and sounds a warning or even says, "too close, move away" or something like that. Any suggestions?
  19. It certainly should. Nice find.
  20. Back road shots. I drove that road years ago. I would only drive it in spring or fall or early summer morning. It's an easy drive only slow and a bit rough in places, but it is paved the entire way. I plan on a day on that road with lots of stops to really look at the canyons, etc., then I want to visit Pinnacles National Park.
  21. Dave true, marketing! Similar thing to sound deadening products. Dura-max seems to have the attention there. Two unstudied conclusions I've come to are: if it is advertised in a popular car magazine or sold in an automotive parts store, the prices may be elevated.
  22. A summation of tha BBQ. For me it is more than a truck show, its a reunion with friends. Friends from Oregon,Washington, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Australia, Lodi greater area, San Jose, LA, and more. I take my truck for the first timers, they want in on the history, I look for ways to improve my truck and thoroughly enjoy the first time trucks however all the aforementioned reasons still stand down to the reunion with friends. To all, do have a safe and healthy year.
