  1. I use a triangle lift. It is placed in front of the tire to be changed, the the vehicle is driven forward to lift the car. Very simple, easy to use, and always ready to go!
  2. A mercury switch on the top rear gate of my Suburban would be a nice addition. I'm going to research this.
  3. Flatie46, faux patina is exactly that. I can appreciate the idea but prefer to protect what time or accident caused. There were a number true patina vehicles at the show, I'm sorry I didn't photograph them. This pic shows a couple.
  4. My apologies that this fun project turned a bit sour. I trust this thread will return to civility and be fun for all. PAul
  5. When I refer to this project as an Empi Kit Buggy, no one has a clue, yet when I clarify it is akin to the Thing or Kubalwagon they then tune in. So that the community remains "pure" I will clarify in the future. I have looked at hundreds of Empi Kit pictures and have yet to find one like this. So there may have been Empi spinoffs as well or one could select parts and assemble it. What ever, it should be fun to disassemble, clean and repair parts, and then build this frame into a street legal vehicle. My thanks to to those who helped "identify" it. PS: so far, including fuel to get it, the frame cost me $125, this stash cost me $75, so this may be a low investment project. We will see.
  6. I will call this frame whatever I want to call it!
  7. Today I found a stash of parts just a short mile from my house. In this stash of parts is enough parts to build two Buggies. One bug is complete sans the glass, the other a complete pan sans the engine, then boxes of parts. All this was the inventory of a teenager, the stash left with his father years ago. Dad now is in his late 80's and was relocating to a retirement village. I paid $75.00 for the total. The Bugs are '63 models. Cool
  8. Today when we drove up the mountain the truck did not have the power it once had. It did not heat and oil pressure stayed consistent. I'm going to rebuild the carb, I question the small internal fuel pump, then the vacuum advance, and then the points and timing. Any other suggestions?
  9. Car show, Squaw Valley Mountain Church, May 4, 2018.
  10. I use my truck nearly every day. This week I used my truck as a puller. This morning I will drive it up the mountain to a car show.
  11. The marking on my '53 is 3.73. The 3.91 was ginseng to me. The drums have stubs so may use those.
  12. To the skeptical, the body cushions are formed runner of specified density, That known, any rubber with that density can be used. It would be interesting to test foreign cushions density vs nos. Rubber elasticity is also measured in durometers, I think. Therefore, I'm going to test the mallet according.
  13. RNR1957: I thought it was very personal also! LOL
  14. Fortunately I have NOT placed my order. Eight mallets at $3.00 each will provide me the discs I need and I will have 8 handles too boot. $24.00 vs $180.00. TKS FLASH!
  15. There are two rubber "discs" , 2 1/16 diameter and 1/2" thick at each mount
  16. Roberts. $9.00 a pair, 20 pair required. I have ordered from here before so placed my order here Andy B. $9.00 a pair Steele. $10.60 a pair It saves a few bucks to check around. Sometimes Steele is the less expensive.
  17. Robert, found the mounts in Roberts. NEW KIT, BOLTS. MOUNTS, ET, AL., $296.00, Double Ouch! Takes twenty mounts for the Suburban.
  18. Question: I've been looking for a source for the body to frame bolts and rubber cushions. Will need them next week. I took the day off. second question, I have a 3.9 rear axle with drums that have stub wheel mounting bolts. Can I swap those drums?
  19. Yes, washed down with a pint of bitters! LOL
  20. I started on Friday, just did something each day and today the frame is in the shop. Two Ibuprofen in the morning and one at night has really helped. I had use of a very good pressure STEAM cleaner, it really cot off a lot of rust.
  21. Steam cleaned with pressure. Quite pleased.
  22. The frame is OUT! I knew it was a big assignment. The frame is in good shap, will only need cleaning and paint.
  23. The body on the stands.
  24. It was easy to remove the steering gear box and eliminate that possibly catching when I roll the frame out. Robert I cut two of my saw bucks down to a height I needed and that gave me some very sturdy body stands. It was a chore, but now I can do proper work on that frame.
  25. Yes! A strong, sturdy support system is under construction.
