  1. It will not be difficult to put a pilot-house on an S-10. Since my S-10 is a 4WD and a two door it is short so we will have to take some inches off of the front of the box in order to center the rear wheels properly. The cost is not prohibitive. Ed is easy to work with and will respond even by phone. PF
  2. Question: Will a 1/2 ton Dodge truck fit on an same age Mopar chassis. Seems the '51 Mopar cars really drove nice. Also, will a 55 +/- engine and tranny fit in a truck. A high school friend had a "55 plymouth and it was a fast car. PF
  3. I contacted www.e-zchassiswaps.com and inquired about theri kits. We are proceeding but not with my truck. My son chided me about taking apart a good old truck and I agreed. I have found two complete bodies w/0 chassis and will pursue getting one of those. Both are '48 and I prefer the '52 but. . . Thankx to those who responded. Will update as the project gets going.
  4. I am aware that my question borders on sacriledge, but here it is. I Just damaged the body of my '89 Chevy S-10. It is a 4WD, short frame (2 door) with a 4.3 V-6, engine, a rebuilt tranny, and rebuilt front suspension. It was my mountain lake fishing truck. No damage was done to the frame etc. QUESTION: How difficult would it be to put my '52 Dodge BIB on the S-10 chasis? OR how difficult would it be to put the engine and tranny in the Dodge? PF
  5. Dave: I have a number of "memory sticks" for different catagories. All my information is backed up on to the appropriate "ms" I buy the small memory sticks and then when I go somewhere where I may/plan to access the information I just take the appropriate 'ms'. (1) easy backup & (2) easy portability. Just my way of doing things. PF
  6. It is always nice to learn yet for the 'picky' ask them to show you their truck. Chances are they do not have one. I would rather have a "4" than no truck at all and that is what mine is, yet I have one! I live in the Central Valley of Calfornia and drive truck, part time, for a friend. From a truck one can see a lot more than from a car. I really amazes me how seldom a Dodge pickup is seen, Dodge trucks are seen more than pickups. Enjoy the 'forum'. Good reading!
  7. Reedley, CA, fresh fruit basket of the world. 52 BIB pickup truck. Stop in anytime!
  8. Nice dash, where did you get the clock? Does a radio go into the rectangular space to the left of the steering wheel post? I also like the color, what exactly is it, gray or blue or ______?
  9. Had a small Ford tractor that did that. I would put it in a high gear then take it out and plow with it but hold the clutch pedal down. Eventually it would brake loose. Maybe do a similiar thing, put on a load then go for a drive on a country road with hills on it. NOTE: Do fasten your seat belt if you try this. Good luck. I wish my truck was far enough along to have this problem. PF
  10. The string of comments on 6 volt / 8 volt batteries and generators / alternaters was absolutely awesome. I copied and pasted much of that information. I had a 50 plymouth, my first car, drove it all around Nebraska and to California and back. It never left me standed. Will start on my B3B 1/2 ton this fall. Last Christmas I met a fellow in Indianapolis, IN who had a 48 Chevy, old school but in great shape. He paid $12,000 for it and has been offered $18,000. Do Chevies and Fords command that much more $$$ than Dodges? If so, why, parts availability? Great forum. Thankyou to each and all for the batt info. PF
  11. Great Car. Next and future times take your pictures with the sun BEHIND you. Enjoy the car.
  12. Carbs is on my to-do list for my 51/52 inline six. Question: What is / are the reason(s) for adding dual carbs? Conversely, why keed a singe carburator and which is recommended? PF
  13. When the truck is back to daily driver status, I will drive it out to Indianapolis, IN where our daughter is the excutive secretary to the Art Institute of Indiana. She will get the truck, so a good heater is needed. I had a 61 Dodge which she drove to college in Santa Barbara, CA. It was a hit on campus and she still regrets giving it back to me, so this is my way of evening the score. Will check out Vintage Air. PF
  14. I am aware of heater/AC units. I only want a very good heater / defroster. I remember Nebraska winters and the heaters were just OK until Nash introduced the first frest air heater. So the question is what works? PF
  15. This is the funniest exchange of ideas I have read in a long time. This chain should be sent to some magazine. Love this forum. Contribution to follow, this forum is better than a subscription to "Classic Trucks" and all its advertisements for products that destroy CLASSIC TRUCKS!
  16. Loosen bolts and drive, so simple. Reminds me of the little boy who told the engineers that it would be easier to let the air our of the truck tires to get the truck jammed under the bridge, then it would be to lift the bridge. Great idea, is it for real or am I a candidate for some "shore front property in Florida?:
  17. I read a post in P15-D24 that the car dashboard can be removed. Does the dash then come out of the B-I-B also and does it make sense to do so. Any pictures would be appreciated.
  18. Does the dash on a Pilot-house (B-I- come out as well? To take that out and work on it on a bench makes a lot of sense. Some pictures would be great, any out there? PF
  19. These trucks hauled grain. To put the sides ON the wood, would (nice pun) guarantee that it would be grain tight even if the wood would shrink a little. This is an unstudied opinion. BUT, that means the box must be disassempled to put in a new floor! Is that a fair question? Going to go take a closer look at mine.
  20. This picture says that the new disc brake assembly attaches on the axle with the king pin. Is that correct? Does that include the wheel axle, drum etc and all for $280.00? Whatever, I am interested.
  21. Beautiful under the hood treatment. I saw a new Dodge Nitro, it was black motor and chrome, liked that also.
  22. Sorry for a second post, this is the front view. I have the original wheels and hubcaps. Took them off so no one would steal them. Obviously need a grill and emblems. I am going to "patina", keep the old paint, and stay original except for wheels and tires, probably disc brakes and a good heater. It's a three on the tree, but I have a four speed, so will change the rear axle so that 4th gear is "overdrive". Enough for now. Enjoy! Any suggestions?
  23. This is my first attempt with photobucket. If it works, here are pictures of my truck. I've got about $500 in it which includes a rebuilt engine. Hope to have it running in Sept. [/img]
  24. I would not do this but to my taste it is nice. I like the color!
  25. Back! This forum is a great "time filler" with great advice. I keep a page open called "forum" advice. When I see information that will help me I cut and paste to that page. Will try to send picture of my truck, a 52 or 53. Plan is to put it in the garage this summer and CLEAN it for daily driver. I hit the picture icon, it asks for a url, I do not know what that means? Help!
