  1. I started on a different Suburban then page 21, I switched to this one so only on this car since January of 2014. The pictures of the blur/red truck and engine were taken the day before my shop burned. So since then I have rebuilt the truck again and worked this Suburban to its current status. In that time period I had a full knee replacement, so the time has been "railroad time."
  2. I bought the barn scene years ago, it now serves for the collection of memory minutiae.
  3. I kindly informed A long time favorite Italian restaurant that I missed the Italian background music of years ago and asked why they no longer play it. Their response. They have to pay royalty fees per song, per use. Fair to the artist, but a loss to the public. Seems Frank shouldn't mind. .,. .or need the income.
  4. My father bought a new 46 Chevrolet sedan. It had back up lights,, under the passenger seat heater, and rear window wiper. I do not believe the 46 chevys had electric wipers.
  5. Double is very conservative both in time and money. Disassembly alone is much more time consuming than I ever considered.
  6. Dodgeb4ya, yes build an inventory before starting a build. I purchased enough spare parts to build at least two VW Bugs to have parts for my VW kit car build.
  7. I order some from Vintage Power Wagons, no problems so far. And since I had two rust bucket donor Suburbans, I had ample parts to retrieve and repurpose. More work but less money and better quality. I still have lots of duplicate parts, extra engine, transmission, rear axle, and many small boxes of small parts.
  8. I do not like result of an accident and a live electric fuel pump, so I have installed this oil pressure switch to eliminate that issue. Has anyone used something similar and with what results? i will run my oil gauge off the top of that "T" connector.
  9. That exposed bare metal, the window and wood slat floor are very ingenious. The banjo steering wheel, the flowers, and the skirt on the steering post, are very nicely done. Great work. Love it. Seat covers, the jury is out on that.
  10. More rubber mounts. I read the old, tired, steering gear mounts sent noise into the cabin, so . . . Easy to replace now. I knew frame off was very advantageous but did not fully understand, first it's so much easier, still hard work, but I think it results in better workmanship as well.
  11. Grandson won't ride shotgun. I'm one mile of back streets to th shop but will pull it on the most direct route, safer that way.
  12. It's also a good way to teach my grandson how to steer a car.
  13. Yes, it is a two man operation. I much prefer this even to the chain and bicycle tire combination.
  14. Wire rims, COOL! Of the top ten trucks I like, yours is in the top five for sure.
  15. Long day today, I tidied up a lot of loose ends today and and installed new shocks. Tomorrow I will tow the chassis to the muffler shop for a new muffler and tail pipe install. To tow, I have a 2" pipe with a log chain though it. I hook the chain ends so that the pipe is near snug at both ends. Now the towed vehicle does not need to have brakes, the pipe is the key.
  16. To keep those parts makes a lot of sense. Mine will go with the car. "I would only add that we should all keep the drums and other parts we take off for the next owner in case he wants to restore it. Can't sell that crap for enough money to be worth your time anyhow, and having it might even help your sale."
  17. Some times a disc brake kit is less expensive than a drum brake restore.
  18. I like such as:
  19. Packing houses are packing peaches out here. Early peaches sell good, but I don't eat peaches til mid June.
  20. Wow! But can it detect cats? ! ! !
  21. I just restudied the repair manual, here is its information. It appears the only adjustment is pedal related, not clutch release.
  22. I have only attached this clutch release, have not adjusted anything. Any tips on how to adjust, I will consult the manual, but recollection of past reading is that the manual is vague. The old adage "The devil is in the detail" is ringing too true just now.
  23. I like the trunks, yet I prefer the full cover. I placed a 2x6 "wall" across the bed to keep things near the gate, easy to load and unload and nothing is tempting. Full cover also helps some on gas mileage, but not much.
  24. Go lightly with the DA and don't press down, let it work and you won't cut to metal as often. I used 600 grit
  25. Probably a limousine company.
