  1. Was this photo taken in preparation for the trip? ?
  2. Auto-Lite MCH-6305 is from 1955 Dodge or Plymouth
  3. Richard, Paul mentioned in his first post that the engine was replaced with a 1946 P15. I'm guessing the distributor was changed with the engine also. The distributor I show for the Plymouth P 15 Is Auto Lite IGS -4207-1
  4. To illustrate the comment I made....There should be no physical contact between A and B on this drawing. Also the spring connection on to the movable contact in your distributor photo appears it may be touching the jumper (B) as well
  5. Further to what keith just said, I enlarged the photo you posted of your distributor innards ,it appears to me that the points will never show open, ( spark occurs when they open),because there appears to be a short circuit where that condenser is attached to the movable contact and the jumper wire (stationary contact)...Which is chassis ground.
  6. Sometimes a problem can be due to something a person overlooks.
  7. Wow, a 1939 Plymouth convertible, welcome to the forum. Now, please don't get upset with me. While you haven't mentioned your background, I assume you have mechanical experience as you mentioned having rebuilt the carburetor.. If the car started after replacing the battery, and not since the work you've summarized,I would think you should still see spark at number 1 cylinder...this is the part that I hesitate to mention - the point gap in the distributor must be set at least approximately correct and the points must both close then open to obtain spark..again, forgive me if I've insulted you
  8. I dearly love the MoPars I have and don't want to rile anyone on the forum, but - the piece of trim I was referring to in the previous post belongs to the rear quarter on my '50 Meteor coupe, (the grille centre is a '49)..
  9. I suppose a reasonable minimum price a person would expect to pay would approximate the scrap value. I don't claim to be a expert in negotiating a purchase price and because of my interest in old cars I have paid more than others would both for cars and parts I've bought...Depends on the value I place on whatever the item is and my willingness to pay the price the owner is asking. A story...regarding one of the cars I have...A previous owner of the vehicle had been searching for a missing piece of stainless trim that was difficult to find,he had almost given up when in his travels he spotted the needed piece of trim in fine shape on a car in a farmer's field,he contacted the owner of the car and asked if he could purchase the trim, the fellow was kinda hesitant on agreeing until this previous owner showed him a $100. bill.Almost before he had a chance to put the bill back in his wallet the fellow had the piece of trim off the car and handed it to him.? So,I guess the take-away is, you never know when an opportunity may unexpectedly present itself and it helps if a person has a few crisp $100. dollar bills in his wallet.?
  10. So, What you are saying,Tim you are kinda split between the left and the right...(not political, the purists and the others)?
  11. Good buy on your 1980 Commutacar....Coincidentally, My wife and I also bought a car at the same vehicle auction....Wife was looking over my shoulder as I was looking at the cars up for auction .She spotted one of the cars at auction and said,"That's cute,I like that car".... I'll blame it both on the covid virus and confinement, damned if we didn't have the winning bid....We now own a little English London Taxi Cab with a Perkins 4 Cylinder Diesel.I picked the car up in less than ideal winter weather conditions and brought it home on my trailer ...another project now filling the garage space..?
  12. Tha following comic strip does not necessarily reflect the opinion of this forum member. ?
  13. ....You might check out the name, "Hudsonator", on this forum, Don Coatney referred to him several times in his posts. ?

    Got my 230

My wife was at a garage sale years ago, came home with a KaBar. I was somewhat surprised when she showed it to me - (not in a threatening manner). While it was in very good condition, obviously had seen some use. It ended up in my garage as well.?

  17. I see it as fugly. Some may view it as art and be more thoughtful.?
  18. The dash and interior window trim on my 1936 DeSoto was finished using the same method, (hydrographics)...
  19. The above photo brings to mind several captions in somewhat different directions and while I may view them as appropriate and humorous, some would be offended .?
