  1. I've rode motorcycles since 1958 when I got my driver's license and I still ride today and I have several motorcycles. It's not for everyone - my wife doesn't care for them. I realize my reaction time is not what it was back then, but I'm not about to quit as yet. One thing I did a few years ago, was to successfully complete a course endorsed by the MSF through the University of Northern Montana, (MSU - Northern ), to ensure my skill level was still up to par..
  2. Further to Frank Elder's solution - To quote Mike Tyson, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face"
  3. I had the pleasure of meeting this fellow last summer at a local car show. We had an all too brief visit - he was kind enough to pop the hood of his 1948 Desoto and I took a couple of pictures. Since owning the car he has done some innovative mods,( to say the least), and is indeed enjoying the hobby...
  4. 1948 Desoto coupe with dual manifold installed plus other owner installed mods. I saw this at a local show last summer
  5. Hang in there Don, We're rooting for you! ...Nice company.
  6. If I followed this thread correctly and you are installing an oil pressure safety switch in line with the electrical supply to your fuel pump, then all you will require is a momentary push on switch in parallel with the oil pressure safety switch when starting. Keep in mind as Tod Fitch pointed out, should your oil pressure drop below the safety switch limit when your engine is hot your engine will die because of fuel starvation.
  7. I can see wisdom in those faces...
  8. Gasoline sales down today....Everclear sales up.
  9. "Venerable", Maybe a term better applied to describe some of our forum members rather then a /6 engine...LOL
  10. Mark 1
  11. Whoever writes the checks gets to choose the specs..
  12. Nice looking car and welcome to the forum. Good you got it running without much trouble. A little caution on the gas tank when you drained it, if the remaining fuel was at all "skunky" and perhaps a little sludge maybe dripping into the pan at the end - best to drop the gas tank and clean it, as this may prevent problems down the road...
  13. The olive branch?
  14. Occasionally, even here in sunny southern Alberta, we get a little rain.
  15. I went to a gun show a couple of months ago. As well as firearms , they also had an assortment of other stuff for sale and I found this Weidenhoff tachometer sitting on the floor propped up against the wall next to a vendor's table. The fellow didn't know anything about it, was only asking $20.00, so I bought it. I've cleaned it up a bit. The meter movement is fine . I believe it may have been used in a farm equipment dealership back in the day. It appears as though there may have been a nameplate attached directly above the meter.
  16. I believe Knuckle nailed it. I found this picture on line
  17. Now at age 75 ... Had 2 vehicles just prior to marriage, one was a Canadian 1956 Dodge Mayfair HT and the other was a 1948 Canadian Dodge D25 Coupe . Made a choice to sell the 56 Dodge and kept the 48 Dodge. The woman I married and I are still together.... I'm still into old cars, and once again we own more than one car.
  18. Been kinda cold here the last few days...Happy New Year! . Hope 2018 is a good one for all of you.
  19. X2
  20. I've had it for a number of years and not sure where I purchased it, a little goes a long ways, it is a copper, high temperature, anti-seize compound . I see it is listed on Amazon along with other equivalent brands of copper anti-seize compounds...a small brush top container isn't too expensive ...
  21. I have used "Kopr-Kote" anti seize for this application, ( manifold studs), successfully...
  22. "This ain't no upwardly mobile freeway, Oh no ......"
  23. I wouldn't consider doing that.... that particular combination of dissimilar metals would be asking for trouble.
