  1. Bingster show us some more pictures of where the other metal line are going. From what I can see these two metal lines should go to the oil filter and the other connection should have a metal line that goes to a rubber hose and then this connects to another metal line that goes into the oil pressure guage. This is how it is on my 39 desoto. Rich Hartung
  2. after the original poster asked a question about piston I spoke to this gentleman and sent him some original piston information that came from my Thompson products catalog regarding the correct pistons. I have not heard anything back from this owner if he has or has not gotten the correct pistons. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com

  7. The new gates wp have the seal bearing installed and has eliminated the two bonze bushings. You need to use a water proof grease get a motor boat properller grease since it is waterproof. Do not put to much in the WP becasue you will blowout the seal just a small amount to force some grease into the shaft. Rich Hartung
  8. this was done with the grainit kit for the homeowner. It is simple to do and if the graining is not what you like then you just wipe it off and then do another pass. Also the owner of grain it stated that the wood graining does not have to be perfect becasue wood is not perfect in the graining when you really look at it. So I quess that makes alot of sence when you do it yourself approach. Also for the driver cars this is a great product and is the same that the guys that do it for 2-5 thousand for a car. Rich Hartung
  9. Here is an example of the wood graining that I did while using the kit from Grain-it company. They have a metalplate willall of the various wood grains and then the appropriate base colors and then the top coats. The graining is applied with a soft rubber roller and is a simple process to do. This is an example of curly maple that was used on the 39 Desoto. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.comu

  12. I feel that same as chopt50wgn. we do have one major show call the Das Achfest in Mungie PA. They charge the owners but it is a great show along with entertainment in a park and crafts for the ladies and they give out great gifts at the end of each day. It cost around $15. Walkins also payto get into the show so I do not feel bad about the cost. It isa 3 day show with each day being the same cost. They have between 1000 cars in the show. Chopt50wgn: call me sometime to see if we might get together at a local show. I live down here in Audubon, PA Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com
  13. I also have to agree that the cost is getting way to costly. I would not mid paying the fee but at least have a food vendor and make a deal that we the driver gets a hotdog and a soda. Then the rest can go to the host club. Another suggestion is to just not give out dash metal placques and stupid give away awards. Cut the cost to say $10 per car, then have several 50/50 drawings adn the spectators can also get intot he 50/50. The club will make money and then some people go home with some money. My local club only chages $15 day of show but gives out at the end of the day money based on a raffle ticket that you get when you register your car and the money is $500 and we have three drawings and we have never lost money on our show over 250 antique cars and then we also have the mustang club with their own show on the same grounds. Rich Hartung.
  14. Here isa map of the Orange foeld and the location for the National desoto club vendor location Orange Field row OAD space 7&8 Map.pdf
  15. I have used the wood graining kit from the grain-it company. The home DIY kit works well and the process is very easy do do. They have the base coats and top oat and the appropriate graining plate for the various cars. Simple process to put the graining effect onthe metal trim pieces. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com

  19. The car show is held on Saturday. You will find cars on the swap vendor sites for sale and also in the car corral. If it was the year that rained both Wed and Thursday and Friday yes most of the vendor pulled out early becasue of the rain. I was also there that same year. It rained so hard to water was leaking into our trailor fromt he AC unit. Never know what type of weather we will get have been there and sunny and warm all 4 days and then sometime it rains on one day. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com
  20. I have just received my vendor packet for this years Hershey Swap meet that will be held from Oct 4-7. The National DeSoto Club and I will have two vendors spots on the ORANGE FIELD ROW OAD Site 7 and Site 8. The Orange field is the field with the GIANT Convention Center. If you are standing in front of the center then go to the far right rows we should be about the 2 or 3 row in from the outer roard that would have the car corral. If you are at Hershey please stop by and have a visit and sit for a while. Good MoPar conversations will be going on all day. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com
  21. Can you hook up a modern oil guage to see what presure you are getting? Maybe the oil gage is not working correctly. Could pickup an oil gage at any motor parts store. Would be cheaper than trying to test with a NOS unit. Just a thought. The title of the lisiting says Dry Oil canester . So are you getting oil flow into the canaster or not. Are there any kinks in the metal oil line that goes to the oil pressure gage? Rich Hartung
  22. You will need to get a piece of brake line that has the flared end and the correct threaded nut to screw into the 90 degree brass connector. That would be the simplest way to do this connection. For fule use the stell of newer bendable lines but not copper. Rich Hartung
  23. Just convert the oilbath air cleaner to use a modern paper filter and then if you are going to a show that is being judge then put the wire mess filter back on the top of the carb. If the truck is a driver than go with the best possible change and get rid of the oil base filter or maybe even see if you can find a K&D new style filter to fit the truck. If it is a fully restored truck ground up totally 100 point truck then you will be only putting the truck on a trailer and not driving the truck. So just make a simple change to the filter and have lots of fun with the truck. Most people at the car show would not even care about the non stock air filter only you and a few other people might even notice it and since it is your truck and your money I would not care what they thought. If they have comments then tell them to open their wallets and buy the truck from you. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com
  24. Don; What I am saying is that if someone purchases this incomplete unit for the $600 and then they find out that they can not do the rear brakes I would be real mad to find out that the MT19 kit was not complete and then I would have to spend more money with a machinest to make the missing sleeve. I know the sleeve can be made but figure the material and time and add that to your initial puchase of the base tool. I told the seller that he was missing the 41 sleeve and this was for the 38 and up cars but he does not have the respect to even post the information to anyone on Ebay so buyer beware. I just wantes to let anyone that was considering puchasing the tool that they might not have the complete set for there truck or car. Just trying to help a forum members. Rich Hartunge
  25. That is true I had one made by a friend of mine but first you need the 41 sleeve to duplicate. I do not know of anyone that is going to give up one to a stranger to have one made and theirs returned. You do not see these sleeves on ebay or even at swap meets. Rich Hartung
