oldmopar Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 As I read the forum I see many new names this is good but wondering how many still here from the old board its hard to tell with the new name. I use to sign on on the old board as Ed Ward I now sign on as oldmopar Ed Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 I'm Here. Same name. Dennis:cool: Quote
Normspeed Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 You're right Ed, I didn't know that! I use to sign on on the old board as Ed Ward I now sign on as oldmoparEd I was on the old board as a relative newcomer, same name. Quote
RobertKB Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Nothing's changed for me except I'm older! Quote
Dwight Pectol Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 I am still here using the same name as on old board I dont post often but I read everyday DW Quote
Allan Faust Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Used my real name in the past, and still do so.... Allan Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 I made a posting on the first (unrefreshed) old board. Remember it used to refresh at around 1000 postings. I was looking for stuff to soup up a flathead 6 before I bought my car. Found the soup up stuff but still looking for more. I believe there may have been an earlier forum version (that I was not active on) so this is actually version # 3. I have always used my real name. I dont understand why some folks use something other than there real name. I have no shame or fear in signing my signature to anything I post. Quote
anthonyb Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Not too long on the old board but was there just the same. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I was just plain Norm on the old forum (without the bar stool). Had to change it here because it was too short. I was on GTK's original web site and forum back in 97 or 98 when he first started it. Forum wasn't too active back then. Quote
PatS.... Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I notice we lost quite a few frequent posters, and some don't post near as much. Hardly ever hear from GTK, the boss hisself, anymore. Best forum on the 'net. Quote
TodFitch Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Same name both old and new forum. Don't post as much as I have been pretty busy and usually by the time I see a thread where I feel I can contribute information someone else has already posted better information. At least I can learn from others experience and knowledge. Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Like Todd, I'm still around using the same name but posting less. This has become a very busy site and it is hard for me to keep up with all the posts. I usually scan and go to the ones that look like I can learn or contribute. Quote
PatS.... Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Try just clicking on "New Posts" at the top of the page. Gives a feeling of the old forum where everything is on one page. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I notice we lost quite a few frequent posters, and some don't post near as much.Hardly ever hear from GTK, the boss hisself, anymore. Best forum on the 'net. Pat, Could be for several reasons. Although GTK did use to post more years ago, he still did not post as much as some, including, "yours truly". As far as others slacking off on posting, they could be like I'm getting to be. I've started to slow down little on reading and postings myself. Why, several reasons. 1) There are lots more people on the board now. Along with the lots more people comes lots more answers to peoples questions. If someone has posted an answer similar to the one I may have, why should I post it again and just add to the confusion? Even if the answer (solution) to a problem isn't what I may do, if the solution someone else gave will work, why confuse someone and give another solution. 2) I've not only started to cut down here, but drastically cut down on use of the internet altogether. Even on Ebay. I've only had 1 transaction on Ebay in the last year now. I never surf. Even while working now I have my computer turned off unless I have to research something. 3) To me (and no offense meant to anyone), the internet has become just a more modern version of the old CB and Hamb Radio. I got out of that years ago because it just became too crowded on the airwaves and wasted too much time that I could be out doing something. Now, the internet is also becoming too crowded for me. So..........between that and the fact it wastes too much of my time, I've decided I have more fun out doing something in the garage or going somewhere (especially during the nice weather). So, as the weather gets better, I'll also be on here much less than now. Life's too short to sit in front of a computer all the time. I read in the one thread someone thought I was mad a few weeks ago about something that was said, because I had not posted anything for a few days or so. Wasn't the case, I was just off the computer having fun. So........if you see me posting a lot less as time goes on, you now know I'm not mad at anyone. Also, for anyone trying to contact me. A few weeks ago I changed my profile settings so that no one could email me through the site or even PM me. Again, that was primarily done to cut down on places I have to check for mail. I've also done that on a couple of other sites. A few of you have my private email address and can contact me that way if you want. For those that don't have my email address, they can click onto my web site and send a message to me using the "info" address off there. To close, I do enjoy the forum and discussions on the forum. Bottom line though, the internet is getting old to me. Sometimes I actually fall asleep on the net in my chair. So, it's time to get up and get out. I ain't gettin any younger sitting here. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 CB compared to the internet..sorry ole buddy..go back to pounding rocks...CB has always be trash from day one..with the internet you go only where you want to go..listen/talk only when and who you choose...not like some idiot blasting in on your air space....you been staring at that cave painting to long again..you need to get outside a bit... JohnS48plm Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I was John S on the old board. Great bunch of guys here, lot's of good information. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Same me, same name. When you are as goofy as me, changing your name wont help. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Same name however there is a change, My car runs now. Much of the time on the old forum I was trying to find out what the heck was wrong with that thing! I was kind of reluctant to the change however that's the way of the world and it turned out to be great for the forum. How else would I have met Don Coatney and the crew. great bunch of cats on the internet and in person:) Quote
NatesSedan Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 A question from one of the noobs...how long ago did the forum change? and Was the old forum archived into this one? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 On the old forum I think I was just BobT. Had to add to it due to the rules of this site for names. I like the fact that we can list on the upper right where we live. I wish more people would put their city and/or state just so I can remember where they are. Hard to keep up with so many new members nowadays. Had lots of fun here and learned a bunch of stuff. Thanks, guys, for all your help. Quote
blueskies Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Been here since the inception... and before. There were a handfull of us that migrated here when the old POC board went down. I've been reading the forum just about every day for about 8 years... This place is like family... Pete Quote
