My 46 busicoupe has the model 36. It works very well with the exception of defrost.  It basically just moves the cabin air around and redeposits humid air back onto the windshield.  I remember my dad's 49 Dodge had a small rubber bladed fan blowing toward the driver's windshield.  He always drove with his vent window open so the fan would circulate fresh air up to the glass.  Worked ok but still not a real defrost setting.

I believe 49 was the first year in Dodges and Plymouths got the heater setup with the fresh air ducting from the radiator support through the heater coil and into the car.

Are you trying to get a few miles on before snow fall?  It will be tough to do all this thrashing to get her done just to stick it in the garage under a cover for 5 months...

Can you work remotely?

If you could get it to say AZ for the winter then lots of possibilities.  ?

Well dreams can help!

A big screen TV set up in front of the car with Go-Pro type driving scenes as seen through the windshield? and pretend?

Most difficult to date!

I've rebuilt,  engine, front end , rear axle, window regulators, etc, etc ,etc.

The fresh air box, heater, and wiper assembly by far, kicked my butt.

All in, and all apart 3 times.

Close to zero clearance around the wiper mechanism.

Driver side heater can wait till after more assembly.

Rainy day working in the basement last few days.

Unwrapped the window garnish moldings.  Sent for woodgrain several years ago.

Mounting chrome, and fuzzy straps.

Vent windows next.

Headlight Relay ... check.

NOS Auto-Lite installed with original instructions I found here.

After much reading here, it seemed confusing, however it became clearer once I followed the wiring diagram.

Won't be able to test until dash is in.

Sunny and 70 today in Connecticut , mid November.

Completed another task while garage is warm.

Hand brake handle, painted and installed. Attached to rebuilt cable. Will adjust another day.

Note: don't disassembled handle to paint.  Took a bit to figure out how the spring sat inside to function properly.

Small steps yesterday.

Hand brake return spring, and extension.

Also, tidied up the headlight and horn wires with original clips on radiator support cross bar.

Coming along nicely.  Is that the part number for the cross-bar clips in that photo?  Something else I need to find for our D24.

Hi Dan,

Sorry, wrong photo.

The clip is: 987087

I didn't have the clips.  Noticed them in the D24 parts book.

Found them at Arizona Mopar parts.

Excellent idea Frank. I get it.

Any idea why there are two holes on top / center of my dash?

Wiper switch and what else?

Its been 40 years since I've driven this car. I don't recall,  and can't find the answer in any photos online.

?????

Yes I do believe the second hole is for a windshield washer tube that comes (from the jiffy jet bottle in the engine compartment)through the top of the dash and a hole in the divider bar......nozzles point at each pane.

Your wiper switch is in the wrong location, it's where the tube for the windshield washer should be.  If there are two holes in the top center of the dash, the one closest to the windshield should be the washer tube, the other one is for the switch.  As Frank notes, that tube goes to windshield division bar.  I know someone on the Forum has a photo of the setup, I've seen it posted before.  But, if nothing comes up today, I've a friend with a D24 parts car that has it.  I'm going to his place tomorrow to help put a roof on his woodshed, I'll get a photo of it for you.

Jiffy Jet - these are posted somewhere else, but here goes:

(The thicker hose goes to the foot-operated pump under the floor.  The thinner hose goes to the tubing at the dashboard.

Thanks guys for info and photos.

I did not have a jiffy jet back when I drove this car.

I have one now but it is not the one that sets up this way.

Ill look for a rubber or chrome plug in the meantime.

I have one p15 dash that has the hole and was plugged with a small metal piece that was wood grained to match. My other dashes don't even have the hole so I suspect they went to a drill it as needed model
