Bob Riding
I really liked Carryall50's dash and would like to duplicate in for my current '52 Suburban Project. Are there products or companies that will duplicate the look, similar I guess to wood graining?
DJ194950
Bob, Maybe this type of painting technique using off white/tan with a reddish brown? Experiment of some spare sheet metal parts. About 2:28 in it starts with details, some sound would help somewhat. DJ
James_Douglas
That looks the "Tolex" upholstery they used on the 1946 to 1948 Desoto Suburbans, just in pain. You could get some from SMS, who makes it now, and upholster the dash...but the stuff is $120 a yard. I have a '47 Desoto Suburban and will need to upholster it in the next couple of years and just got there sample a month or two ago. JD. Greg51T&CWagon
SMS does the Alligator vinyl and it's a damn near exact match to the mint example i have in my 51 wagon. Be sure to stress you want the larger scale gator texture.
vintage6t
My 50 Desoto convertible has the same on the seats ( two tone brown Tolex with white vinyl), door panels and other trim. Dash is painted though. Edited September 25, 2019 by vintage6t
