1949B-1-C Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 Good afternoon all, I have had my truck for about a year and a half and have decided to post some pictures! Started out as a barn find farm truck from Kansas that was brought to Ohio a few years back. That owner did nothing with it until I purchased it as it was when it came from Kansas. Did all of the usual work such as brake overhaul, cooling system, fuel system ETC to get her going. Been driving it consistently for about a year, and it runs and drives great! It's a 1948 B1C, 4 speed. As original as it can get. I love the original patina and it gets looks everywhere it goes. I am pretty much done with the big work, now just fine tuning some stuff. I know my user name says '49, but it was until after I discovered it was actually a '48! Feel free to ask questions and enjoy! 11 Quote
pflaming Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 Great patina, " can't beat Mother Nature"! I like the funnel by the Gerri can, and the grain door in the tail gate. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 Nice! Would be interesting to see what the spare carrier looks like. 1 Quote
Paul Hatfield Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 I'd be interested as well. Back in the 1960's when I had my '51 B1B, it also had a side mounted spare tire holder. It was on the passenger side though, which actually came in handy one time on the side of a narrow road. My current truck has the spare tire holder for under the bed. Paul Quote
RobertKB Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 Cool looking truck. Spent most of its life outside. I see you have a garage with the door open. Is that its home now? Quote
1949B-1-C Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Posted July 19, 2016 Thanks! I will post pics of the spare tire carrier when I have it out next. And yes, she does get parked inside these days! I think 60+ years outside was enough! 1 Quote
minicooper Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Nice truck! Love the patina and the fact that you're keeping it like it's been for almost 70 Years. My '52 C has the same hole and sliding gate in the tail gate - good to know what it was for (thanks Pflaming). R Alston Quote
B1B Keven Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 Nice truck Jesse. It was good talkin' to ya. Here's something else you should buy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0395250188/ref=tmm_hrd_used_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=used&qid=&sr= 1 Quote

Jeff Balazs Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 Very nice truck. Sounds like you are having fun with it. Mine has the side spare carrier too but it is mounted on the passenger side. Thanks for sharing with us. Jeff 1 Quote

Ralph Pearce Posted July 23, 2016 Report Posted July 23, 2016 I've got the exact same rig, though my spare's on the passenger side and she'd been converted to 12v (which I like). This was a farm truck in Oregon, and her needs were much the same as yours (also needed new bed wood). Bought a heavy-duty spinner knob which I make good use of. I've been driving her about a year and she's doing fine, can handle highways (though not freeways) atabout 50 mph. 1 Quote
48Dodger Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 Hmmm that wine barrel....what a great place to hide a modern gas tank..... I collect spare tire mounts.....why? I don't know....just do. Have yet to put one on my truck. 48D Quote
Stock Posted May 21, 2017 Report Posted May 21, 2017 Possible to post a picture of the Spare tire mount? Looking to add this to my 1950 Quote
JaysonK Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 Nice truck....I like the patina...I have a gas can holder on my 53 but different design... Quote
pflaming Posted May 24, 2017 Report Posted May 24, 2017 "Grain gate" . Grain storages / elevators had full cradle lifts that raised the wagons by the front wheels and later the trucks so the grain flowed out, fast and easy, no scouping. Thus the owner added gates of different designs. Quote
