pflaming Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) You can cut the side off a new roll of gorilla or duct tape, press it to the dash and, bazinga a coffee cup holder and no permanent modification. Just looked up the definition o bazinga, interesting, guess I'm just not cool. Edited February 27, 2015 by pflaming Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 I've been thinking of making one...of course it would Need to be fairly light weight to be Removable. Would probably cover it with vinyl In complimentary color to seat. Quote
47 2 Door Coupe Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Take a trip with your ride to an upholstery shop, they think in that mind set all day long and they just may come up with some creative ideas if you can leave the car, or other wise Duluth Trading has a selection of "throw over the top of the seat" holders for everything. Good Luck! Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) there are a number of ready made aftermarket consoles that just plop down on the floor and afford the owner cup holder and a tad of storage for personal items. These are reasonably cheap/inexpensive. Also if you were to walk about in a few wrecking yards you will be rewarded with other factory fit consoles that one can pick up also for a fair price. The Chrysler Town and Country and I would guess the Dodge lineup as well has consoles that sit between the seat that could easily be rotated 180 and fit beneath the dash and point toward the seat...these are designed to lock into place and not move..they are latched in place by a remote latching/release lever inside the compartment...there can easily be vinyl dye sprayed with such products marketed by MarHyde to compliment you car's interior. But if you dead set on making your own..then for all practical purposes you should start with measuring your available space, select proper travel cup as they are all not equal and elect if you want power taps for audio device/chargers and let the big dog eat..Ihave made a few consoles. The latest was due to the fact that the fatory heater AC of a 2004 vintage vehicle retrofitted left little room in the dash to place all controls etc...so my answer was...make it..all metal..conforms to dash and floor..heater/AC control and dual power taps for cellphone and other misc items like GPS and I-pods Edited February 27, 2015 by Plymouthy Adams 1 Quote

hkestes41 Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 I just picked up a molded plastic version at Autozone that fits on the transmission tunnel. Has two cup holders a small tray with short "walls" around it and even a change holder with slits for different coins. When I get somewhere that I don't want it to show just pick it up and toss it in the trunk, pull it back out when I get in to drive off. http://www.autozone.com/interior-organization-and-cargo-management/console/hopkins-console-with-drinks-cds-and-coins-storage-compartment/426530_0_0/ Only $4 Bucks. Tones52 Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 The grey plastic console organizer has worked so far for me. It holds my water bottle, a box of tissue, and change nicely. Now, if I want to really get ambitious the tips from the following You Tube video on making a custom console might be a way to go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSjfKLH9P20 Quote
fstfish66 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 you can find finished units that will fit on top of your seat bottom,,with cup holders,,some the lid doubles as a arm rest,,etc,,go to the magazine stand and look in street rodder magazine,,,or PM me and when my next magazine arrives i can see if there is a web site for them,,, Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 I have a vintage plastic floor hump tray that holds some smaller things. You can find them at flea markets, or sometimes a rummage sale for not much money. I think they still sell something similar in some stores. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 What I want is a unit that sits in the seat with a padded arm rest on top......probably one that will open to allow storage inside. Guess I have gotten used to the rests in modern cars and like to lean on something while driving down the road. I like the look and size of this "contractor's console"......it has a drink holder that is kind of out of your way while leaning............this one listed at $47.99 on eBay. Quote
47heaven Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 Good lawd! Why would you want to put bucket seats in it? If you want that PT Cruiser look just go buy one instead of removing the bench seat. Quote

I've got one like that on the seat of my truck. It works well for holding a bottle of soda or water and the cubby under the arm rest is good for storing my garage remote and a few other little things. Quote

maurice wade Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Some company used to make a floor hump tray and drink holder that was held in place with somewhat heavy flexible pads. The pads were attached on each side of the holder. It worked great. Would not slide off! All other drink holders needed screws attached to hump, or the holder would slide off spilling everything in the floor. Every time I go into a automotive store, I look for one of these. I guess they don't make them anymore. They worked great! Quote
