Adding Forums....

We've been basically a two vehicle type forum for sometime.....and when we went to the new format, added space for Tech, OT, Annoucments...etc.

The "truck side" is titled as "Pilot-House.com Truck Forum" which would suggest 48-53 trucks only. The copy says: "All topics discussing flathead powered mopar trucks from the late 30's to mid 50s!"

I realize GTK put more emphysis on Flatheads, but really we are still "car side, truck side" .......

Lately the Pilot-House forum has been welcoming owners of C series trucks, as well as 39-47 trucks. They've been posting and commenting with a hint of "hope you guys don't mind"...which is silly....we love trucks!

Should a forum heading for 54-60 Dodge trucks be added? A forum heading for 39-47 too? Does this help or just complicate things? Could it help with sorting information, or could it create a bit of divide? Guys from the car side do visit and comment on the truck side, just as truck guys visit the car side....

I am for getting the best information easily as much as making friends....so I haven't really decided myself, but the questions are there in my head.

you seen one truck..you've seen them all...... ^_^   get too many subgroups going and readers will start ignoring a majority of threads though as you suggest will head straight to only one or two of general interest probably missing out on a valuable bit of info or missing a spot they could well help a person just because of a specialized category......for giggles look at the FBBO forum...just way to much BS there due to the many many forum headings...I only look at maybe 2 general subgroups...90% of their stuff could fit in OT subgroup...anyway..just my opinion...

I say leave well enough alone. Car side deals with many different years and not just '46-48. I have cars and visit the truck side quite often as well as the OT. I enjoy and learn from all the forums. Tim is right when he says it can be divided up too much.

The HAMB tried to sub-divide and quickly found out that it was not working; just too many guys with more than a single interest.

I do like the idea of stretching the truck years as many good projects are 'out-there' but keep in mind there are also other forums with coverage for the earlier and later models.

Maybe the 'boss' will opine.

When I talked to 48dodger about this topic a few weeks ago I thought I could separate sub forums under a single master forum. So readers could click on "the truck forum" and see all posts about all trucks or just drill down to their specific interests like "job rated" or "C" series trucks. (Kind of the best of both worlds) After going through the set up a bit more that isn't possible, I would have to break them out into discreet forums for each group. So I have update the header and description to better reflect the growing target markets.

No problem with me though I am a bit nostalgic about "Pilot-House". Fords had flat heads also. Maybe "Pilot-house trucks and other flat heads. I've looked at a few other forums but never return, many to me are just too complicated. I like Simple.
