Dan Hiebert Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Dan what are your travel plans? We were planning to leave Syr early Thurs AM. Nothing definite yet, too far out in my line of work. Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to leave Thursday, tho. At best I could leave Friday AM, at worst, Friday PM. Quote
LAKOTA169 Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 I got this email from our region President today. Due to the high demand for hotel rooms in Port Huron, Michigan for the upcoming National Summer Meet hosted by the Detroit Region, We have secured additional rooms at the hotel below that is just a few blocks from the Show Hotel. There are only 8 rooms left at the Show Hotel. If you were not able to get a room at the show hotel, we have negotiated a great deal at the Fairfield Inn at the rate of $104.00 per night including breakfast. When you call, request a room in the PLYMOUTH CAR CLUB BLOCK to get the special rate! Hope you can join us for the Summer Meet! Don Coatney Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 I do wonder why the special negotiated rate at the Marriott Fairfield is twenty bucks higher than the rate available on line? Quote
greg g Posted June 18, 2014 Author Report Posted June 18, 2014 group services, like the hospitality room, car wash area, use of copiers, coffee tea iced tea, other expenses elated to dealing with a large group. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Greg, I,m still driving the red Barracuda I bought in 2008. I'll have that at the POC meet. I hope I can still be included in the outlaw group. My P-15 coupe ended up in Minnesota. I'll be bringing some P-15 parts for the swap meet in Port Huron. Quote
greg g Posted June 18, 2014 Author Report Posted June 18, 2014 Just wanted to know whether to bring my torque wrench or not. probably won't need to change the cuda's head gasket..... Quote
JohnS48plm Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I hope not since I rebuilt the engine last fall and have only 500 miles on it. Quote
Mark D Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 OK - you all must be having so much fun no one has time to post a picture or two. 1 Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Hot off the camera. A few shots of the tailgate party. Tod Fitch might recognize the folks in the first photo, Denise and Clark from California. Sorry no car photos. It was too much fun socializing. 2 Quote
LAKOTA169 Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Don, glad you got to make it to the meet. Health issues that popped up last week forced me to cancel my plans. Quote
meadowbrook Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Are Dodges allowed? I mean they are basically the same car.... Quote
Mark D Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Nice! Give a hello to everyone for me. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 This morning we paid a visit to the Wills car museum. Childe Harold Wills was the founder of this automobile. He had worked for Ford and was the guy who designed the blue oval. Interesting museum. For more photos follow this link>>>>> http://smg.photobucket.com/user/DonCoatney/library/Road%20trips%202004/road%20trips%202014?sort=3&page=1 This big old Mack was in the museum. This 33 Plymouth was parked outside. 1 Quote

This 33 Plymouth was parked outside. If I recall correctly, Mr. Wills worked for Chrysler after he had worked for Ford. In Carl Breer's book it mentions Harold Wills worked on the the development of sealed beam headlights too. That '33 has, shall we say, an interesting paint job. Quote
1940plymouth Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Thanks Don, I love that '39 Chrysler Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 I like the color of the 33...very complimenting and the scheme accents each panel and overall the whole car as viewed.. Quote
greg g Posted August 24, 2014 Author Report Posted August 24, 2014 Just pulled into the door yard after about 900 trouble free miles. Didn't take many pics and my computer is in the fritz, so maybe other photags will post in a bit. I will do a recap after I stop buzzing and have an adult beverage. Basically a good trip and somefun times. 3 Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Glad you made it home safe and sound. It took Lisa and I about an hour and a half at standstill speed to clear American Customs at the Lewiston bridge. I am sure we were ahead of you so I told the Special Customs Agent In Charge that there was a Black 46 Plymouth with a load of Moonshine somewhere behind me. He said he would alert all agents. Hope you made it across the bridge OK. Quote
greg g Posted August 24, 2014 Author Report Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) The cut off we took alerted us to the backup, so we boogied to the rainbow crossing in the Falls. Got there at noon, passed through at 12:15, then headed back north to follow rt 104 east. Stopped at a small car show and grabbed some lunch. No sign of Revenuers. Don Coatney Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 I got a room at the host hotel today, they must have had cancelations. Friday they said there were no rooms available at the Plymouth Club rate. John, As always it was great to see you again. Nothing definite yet, too far out in my line of work. Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to leave Thursday, tho. At best I could leave Friday AM, at worst, Friday PM. Dan, It was great finally meeting up with you. Sorry for the low quality photo. I think lisa had her finger covering the lens on my cell phone when she took this photo. Don't ask why these photos are wapperjawed. They are not that way in my photobucket album. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/DonCoatney/library/Road%20trips%202004/road%20trips%202014?sort=3&page=1 2 Quote
JohnS48plm Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 I always enjoy seeing the forum members at the POC meets. Everyone seems to get along so well. We got home about 11:30am but we had a short trip compared to a lot of people. Quote
Mark D Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Any clue as to where next years meet will be taking place? Quote
greg g Posted August 25, 2014 Author Report Posted August 25, 2014 From what I heard' no region is interested/capable of hosting. As per bylaws that makes it a board responsibility, but nothing in the planning. Lot offolks talking about WPC in July in Springfield, I'll. That is an 800 mile trip from here. Not undoable but would require an extra overnight there and back. Quote
steveplym Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 I'm thinking about going to the WPC meet in Springfield next year too. Anyone have the dates in July yet? 1 Quote
