I thought I'd share my new car. I bought a 61 Ford Galaxie Sunliner today. I've know the car my whole life. Its about as nice of a 61 Ford that you could find. Its a 390ci 4bbl dual exhaust, 3 on the three, manual steering, and manual brakes. Its a great cruising car. Its the first old car that I have bought this nice. Just need to turn the key and enjoy! Just thought I'd share...

Awesome car. I gotta wonder about the odd combination on that top of the line car with the big v8 and then manual steering and brakes.

Yeah, its an odd combination. I have the full history on the car, I bought it from the second owner (he had is 35 years), and he was a good friend of the original owner who ordered it that way. I check the vin tag and decoded it. It all matches right up. I guess you can call it a muscle car, cause it sure takes more than you'd think to maneuver it and stop it! Its by far not the fastest car out there, but it has more than enough for me. I've know this car my entire life. I've been riding in it since I could walk. There's no way I wasn't going to buy it. I don't think the owner wanted it any other way either.

My father held the view the power anything was just one more thing to break, so the '63 model year car I learned to drive on had a reasonably sized V8 with non-power steering, non-power brakes and manual transmission. But it was a station wagon, so no where near as desirable now as that sharp red convertible. Anyway, I guess the original purchaser of that car shared some of the same automotive prejudices as my father.

Just what I was thinking, Tod.  More things to go on the fritz.

That is a beautiful car, and should make a fun cruiser.  Congratulations Joe.

Joe, my memory says that you are not married. If that is correct, garage that car or your interests may suddenly get DIVIDED and not by 2.     :o

if he brings it INTO a marriage it woudl be considered a previous item and SHOULD be excluded from any future issues (lordy forbid) if something bad happened.

nice wheels, sad it s a ferd tho!  ;)

ggdad: You are genius! Good advice to single men, get an old car and put it in storage to protect your rights 50 years hence.  If the girls in waiting doesn't like rust bucket, look for another girl! ;)

Yes I'm single, but my girlfriend likes the old cars. Her dad has two of them and she grew up around them. So hopefully I'm in the clear! She was all for buying the convertible...especially since she has rode in it before.
