Mmmm...don't like it. Looks like a squashed bug.

I agree. I checked the thread and although I admire the work, I think the car looks awful.

I love to see these guys with the chopped cars drive them around...they are driving with their backs slumperd down by sitting on the edge of the seat, neck burried into their chest their eyes rolled to the top fo their head only to see out of the car..but not see the road clearly even yet..I can see the fun of a 500 mile trip in that position..to me though the cool aspect is great on one side..it surely takes too much away on the other..

i didn't read enough of it to see how much he took out but to my eye took about 2 inches too much.  Even so it didn't look too bad until he added the visor and reworked the rear fenders. JMO but that's what ruined it for me.  Lotta guys over there like it and as long as the owner does I'll not criticize his taste.  I cac certainly appreciate the work that went into it.

I dropped the top on my truck but I can sit upright in it, no more uncomfortable than in the modern cars we drive on a daily basis.  The delivery trucks I drive at work don't have any better visibilty at traffic lights than my chopped truck does and my wife's cvonvertible is worse than them.

actually I am looking forward to seeing the completed rear fender when finished..I have always thought they were a bit lacking in width especially as viewed on a business coupe and have even considered adding a a bit of metal to a set I have here that are spare..BUT..you got to have the wheels to fill them out to take full advange of the look or else its futile approach to a body mod only to be detracted by a unfilled wheel well...it's the story of the Porsche 911 model..only when the rear fenders got pregnant and the turbo tail was added did this model truly achive it peak in style..and I agree, not all these altered cars look good with the visor..alter the roof line and they tend to be just a tad too much hanging off the front...

The visor would work for me if about 1/2 to 2/3 of it were gone.  I think he added some length to the rear fenders when he widened them.  It's not the width that throws it off for me.  Maybe it's an optical illusion and the bare steel makes it look longer.  Maybe it's the skirts.  He's doing it for himself, anyway.  It's not 100%  my  taste but it is an example  for the OP to get ideas from.  I did like the lines of the 2 that dezeldoc put up.

That is definitely a fat fender...........http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=630846&d=1238509154

Entire car...............the rear view sorta makes you think "Batmobile".   have to scroll down a bit.

I wouldn't waste that much time & effort on a 4 door, because in the end, it's still a 4 door. Just my opinion & you know what they say about those. But to each his own.

If you want to see examples of chopped cars, you will probably find more examples of Fords and Chevys than of

Plymouths.  Could try going to the HAMB and using search for something like "chopped 1947 two door sedan"  and

see what appears.  I'm not that crazy about most top chops as the top gets shorter but the body is still the same

dimensions.  However, there are some good looking cars where the chops have been done well and they look

fine in the final analysis.  (My 2 cents.)

Look up knighthawks chopped sedan.

I never had this issue when driving the chopped vehicles I owned and I'm 6ft tall.  Only time was when I had a visor on my STOCK 49.

I still think their posture is unreal and could not be comfortable regradless of anything else and my eyes do not decieve me with chin in chest posture and rolled eyes.....now the next question and one not offered by yourself..are your seats still stock make and model?  Most that do the chops have to use the racing style seats or cut down mounts just to get the headroom they need....I hated the having to peer out and up for stop light with the visor on the '49...I also had to do similar with my stock 41 Dodge truck at a stop light I am 5' 7"...my taller friends were not confortable in that truck either...just made an observation..

I no longer own a chopped vehicle.  The one I had was a 46 Ford coupe.  Very similar body to my P-15.  I did not have stock seats but I also did not have the "bomber" seats I think you are referring to.  The buckets that were in the vehicle were similar height to the origional seat.  Like Chrysler, Ford made the roofs high enough for an average size man to drive his vehicle with a hat on.  My 49 has the stock seats and I still have a few inches above my head (without hat).  I do agree with you on the pre war cars when they are chopped, either you sit on the floor or hunch over.

I'll admit it.  My truck no longer has the stock seat in it and I wouldn't fit if it did.  The front of the seat is about an inch, maybe two,  lower than the stock and it's leaned back a bit.  It's a fully cushioned bucket seat out of a production car.  I planned the amount of chop with my comfort and visibilty in mind.  Driver size has to have some influence on how much is cut out.  Guess I'm not much of a "sardine in can" person.  Kind of ironic that I took out one of Dodge's selling points that got the truck it's style name
