It is 7:30 A.M. in Reno, NV and it is 12 degrees, had to bring in the brass monkey.

Well.....it's currently 5:20 pm here in MO.......the temp is 36 degrees.....

had a dusting of snow overnight, but much of it disappeared during the

day. Have had some light mist - the roads seem to be good. So, off

we will go to play music for the New Years party about 15 or 20

miles from the house. Not real far, but I've gotten where I kinda hate

driving in bad weather. Symptomatic of old age I guess.

Pic from a couple years ago.......

So.......it's now 2:45 a.m. and we're home from the New Years Eve party

we played in these folks barn/garage. They cleaned it up and decorated.

Had about 20 people there. Weather still misting, with temp up at

31 degrees. Driving was OK.

Here we are in front of a dandy collection of pots and pans.............

Afterward, the host couple fixed breakfast for a few of us brave

enough to stay up late. Kinda crazy in the music business......last

New Years we played in a nice country club.....this year in a barn.

Guess that's show biz.

If you bring in your brass monkey, where do you keep your cannon balls?

Waters edge was open about 50' yesterday, but last night it froze in to about 15'. Last year the water never really froze... I miss last winter already. :(

But there was enough water open to jump in after the Sauna was warmed. Its a new year tradition!

Our summer place stayed pretty warm despite the cold. My 40 year old Yotul kept up pretty good.

In the 20s here today. ...no more snow or ice. Went out to the Elks lodge

at noon for blackeyed peas and cornbread. It was good - saw a lot of

people we hadn't seen in a while as the old lodge building was destroyed

by the tornado. The new building has just been open a few weeks now.

Its been cold here, might even get down to freezing tonight according to the weather service.

And it was cold in the garage, maybe 50°F. I much prefer 65° to 75° for working in the garage. But since something went out on the brakes I needed to brave the cold.

Pedal goes to the metal, reservoir on master empty... Not a good thing for brakes. Pulled all four wheels and inspected all cylinders. No evidence of leaks. Checked all hoses, tubing and connections. Nothing there either. Pulled master cylinder and examined it. Nothing looks like it was leaking there either. But there was fluid in the lines by the master cylinder so I'm thinking/hoping that the wheel cylinders are okay and the leak was in the master.

I've got the original master cylinder sleeved and rebuilt but never re-installed. I guess its going on tomorrow and then I'll set things up for about 20 PSI and recheck for leaks. Turns out that the filler/breather on the original 1933 master cylinder uses the same pipe thread size as my compressed air system fittings. Should be pretty easy to fill the master, then attach an air hose with a regulator set to the desired amount to pressure bleed and check for leaks. Just need to refill the master reservoir pretty often.

I only have 1 cannon ball and it is in the cannon. The brass monkey is just for looks.

Around 45 degrees here in the Central Valley, but with 98% humidity it's a cold 45. Good union-alls, two T shirts and a good scarf makes for comfortable shop work. The two T shirt combo is as effective as a sweat shirt. I use my regular cotton then a larger one over that.

Bob I spent the afternoon cleaning and reseasoning a 9" cast iron skillet like the ones hanging behind you. Tomorrow a batch of swedish meatballs!
