6th Annual Clements Tailgate BBQ......

As I sit here at my desk at work, trying to find motivation to do some actual work in my birthday, I keep thinking that one week from now I'll be on an airplane heading west. I'm really looking forward to this trip. B)

Happy birthday!

Yea... I'm looking forward to "Sunny" California. B)

Perhaps you are confusing "Sunny Southern California" with the rest of the state. :)

(Actually, here in the Bay Area we should be getting into the "June Gloom" (fog) season pretty soon. After that it should be sunny until maybe October. Further north there is yet an different climate.)

Don't be a buzz kill, Tod. :D

In other places they say something to the effect that "if you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes".

In California it is more like "if you don't like the weather, drive 10 miles". While Clements, San Jose and San Francisco are not all that far apart they have significantly different weather. I  expect Clements to be dryer than where I am. Probably a bit cooler in winter and a lot warmer in summer.

lol...Its A LOT warmer out here in the valley Merle.....I was born and raised in San Jose, in what is called the The Bay Area. The nine counties that touch San Francisco and San Pablo Bay. When I lived there, we didn't have air conditioning, it seemed like it was always 60's or 70's......if it was otherwise, boy did we talk about it. When I built my house out here in Clements....only 2.5 hours inland from SF, I was asked by the contractor how big of an AC unit I wanted, and I said "AC?....nah, we've never had it, we don't need it"...He looked at me like I was 1000 miles from home and said "Boy, you ain't from around here, are ya!". During the summer we have 2 to 3 heat waves from 103 to 110 that last up to a week or more. The rest of the time, its 90 to 100...and its dry heat. When I was living in San Jose I thought the 90's was a heatwave. lol.

Back to the BBQ. I spent the day under my truck doing a second safety check. Found a loose shifter lever and some soft wire 'cotter keys' which I replaced with real ones and washers where required. I marked all items with a yellow paint pencil. I did snug the oil pan bolts, just a little turn, got to sneak up on those.

I only had 70 miles on the oil, but it was the first oil after the rebuild so I thought there might be some debrie in it. Also changed the oil in the transmission. The gas tank is full so tomorrow I'm going to take a drive up the hill. In 10 miles the road climbs from 500' to 3,000'. That should be a nice test. There is a good pizza place up there so. . . wish me well.

I know that pizza place.  It is good. You are going to Squaw Valley.

Bummer Jeff. Today has been fairly busy for me, trying to wrap things up before leaving tomorrow. Everytime I look at the clock I think, "This time tomorrow I'll be..." As I write this it is 1:30, or 11:30 out there, which means I'd be driving from Sacramento down to Galt to meet up with Jim and Tim for lunch. Good thing I just had lunch or I'd be getting hungry thinking about it. :D
