As it was, mysteriously, a wire "came loose" from my distributor while I was out wandering Friday. I hope to make more rounds next year.

True story:

Many years ago I had an Austin-Healy 100-6. It was originally 12 V positive ground and in an effort to increase the reliability of the car I rewired it and dumped the Lucas electrics and installed 12V negative ground USA made electrics in it. This made a huge difference. Until late one winter night on the Freeway ..... I was on a transition ramp from one freeway to another when suddenly the engine just cut out. I managed to get it on the shoulder and popped the hood. Much to my surprise the low tension wire from the coil to the points was gone!!! I made a replacement and drove straight home.

The next day I removed the distributor figuring the wire had come loose and would be under the backing plate. It wasn't. To this day I can only figure a Gremlin got it.

It was Mr Lucas getting back at you for no longer using his electronics. He was bound and determined to leave you stranded along side the road. :D

Why does it look like a "Bowtie" badge on the front of this truck?

I think it actually says dodge there.

Mark, good to see you again this year, always fun to talk to other Pilot House owners. I usually see the previous owner of my truck and have a nice chat with him, his son and his brother who all worked on the truck at one time. They are always happy to see it still up and running and somebody who enjoys it as much as they did.

The show is a great one, some long days as we go from 6am to 10pm each day. Always fun to see what is for sale and the prices posted and to dream of driving/owning any one of the 12,000 cars out there, something for everyone to see.

Looking forward to seeing you and your truck again next year!!

looks like a good time.

i also like the route van. it is nicer in the green, and i can see why there's a hole in the a-pillar in its yellow phase. spotlight was there.

the plymouth truck is very nice, too.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but oh well...

Part of me misses the green too, but unfortunately the green paint was so far gone that it was no longer protecting the steel underneath.  Given the height of the vehicle it unfortunately is not garaged during the summer, so the paint is what stands between the elements and the truck.  Also I missed out on a chance to have the truck used in the Coen Brothers' "A Serious Man", probably in large part because it had someone else's business and an Oregon area code on the side.  It also took months for spectator handprints to disappear from the that paint...

Going yellow with the new paint was a no-brainer for me though, as I'm slowly working towards creating a replica of the long-lost one from my youth (shown in my profile pic).  And don't worry, I still have the spotlight in my garage, just need to clean up the chrome and get it working again.

It's a Dodge badge. Here is the front of my 37 Dodge 4x4 pu and you can see the same badge in this photo.

If you are curious I can take a close up photo of the badge tomorrow and post it on this thread.

Would you be interested in selling the Dodge emblems from the hood sides?

Hey Route Van Joe, thanks for the explaination, makes sense now. Have wondered why you painted it. Have seen it several times now at BTT'50s and North St Paul. Still a good looking truck, definatly one you don't see often, which makes it cool.
