When I was young and invencible I once hit 147 MPH (per the speedometer) while driving my Plymouth Duster on a two lane road. At this speed the car was floating and out of control so I backed off. O to be young and invencable again.

I went nuts this week-end and got the '48 going 55 down hill. I think I could l have gotten another 5 mph out of her but just had to back off. It was night and the dash was glowing red.

This is when a particle beam in the hood ornament would come in handy. The other day I was going about 70 in my daily driver when two testosterone powered bikes went by me on the interstate on their rear wheels. Obviously opereted by folks who let their little head do most of thier thinking.

Our village is famous for its swan pond. A couple week ago some idiot thought it would be fun to steal and destroy the resident swan pair's eggs, all 8 of them. Of course the alcohol addled pea brain bragged to some friend about his feat of daring and was eventually caught, charged with animal cruelty, distruction of village property, tresspassing, and remaded to custody. Some one posted bail, and three days later he was ticketed for 143 in a 55, reckless operation, flight from a police officer, operation on a suspended liscence and several other charges. Apparently and thankfully, second bail has not been arranged and he is cooling his heals in the local pokie till his hearing.

Apparently the stupid is forever plague is spreading.........

When I was a kid my Dad had a 1967 Chevy Bel-Air station wagon. One night after coming home late from a friend's house, I was about to cross a bridge over the Mississippi river and decided to see just how fast I could go. I floored the car at the beginning of the span and by the time I got to the other end I was doing over 125mph. Never, ever did I do that again, and I sure as hell never told my Dad about it.

We had over 100 of the Dallas area's Mensa members  shut down Highway 75 which is a 5 lane freeway running North / South through town last Memorial Day. They were '"celebrating" riders who had been killed on their ricers with the "RIP Crash". Plans were underway by the loose knit group to shut down a new bridge in Dallas this Memorial Day but the plans were foiled when police caught wind of the plans.

What is it about prepubescent 20 somethings that turns their minds to mush when they jump on a rice rocket?

Yeah!!! my Hayasaki Ninjabusa RZ 910 will do zero to dead in 3.2 seconds, on the rear wheel!! What does you Ducahamah 991 do???

I did some stupid things in my youth fueled by the adrenalin rush, testosterone and without regard to my personal safety...at my age not sure what excuse I can use ;)

alcohol? drugs? both....!!

as most all my stupid stunts like this was done solo..I did it for the thrill..its a rush..sustained high speed in not nearly as fun as the acceleration to that point..that is why I take the Tiger out very seldom..hard not to gak it..

..I have no illusions that my reaction time is as good as it once was...Wouldn't want to inhibit it any further :D

endangering yourself, knock your socks off!!! Endangering the safety of the general public not so much.

But I would much rather deal with someone singularly focused on driving 80 on an intertate, than a digitally or otherwise distracted multitasker driving 67.

I had a '96 Nissan Maxima to about 165 mph, I say about cause the speedo only went to 155

Not that 165 mph isn't fast, it's nothing compared to 165 mph on a motorcycle.

Classic reason for calling them "donor cycles".

Watched the video and if I was in a car in that traffic I would have opened my door. Dont get me wrong. I ride once in a great while.

That kind of riding is way outa line. Thats the kind of riding that makes my wife go nuts. Shes always saying "They say that we dont see them when really they just ignore the cars". Then I have to remind her that not all riders weave in and out of traffic and flip you off when they do something they are not supposed to.

They probably try to drive their car like that too.

Just sayin.....

I have worked for BMW and Ducati dealerships, and have had the chance to ride some nice bikes. One of the reasons I never got into the newer bikes is that at the end of the day, riding home, my '74 BMW and '69 Norton put a bigger smile on my face. My Ducati was fun (a little Supersport), and while I did commute and take road trips on it, it was most fun on the track. Track days, while fun, can get a bit pricey.

The newer bikes are lighter, more powerful, and stop much better. All good things, but some are just better suited for track use IMO.

That motorcyclist is simply an idiot...and surely will become a dead idiot, if it has not happened already.

There's a word for stupid in every language. The rider is a good candidate for a Darwin award. Sure can ride a motorcycle though.
