I just checked NAPA to see if I could get the short piece of rubber hose that goes from the gas tank to the filler neck. I only need four inches of it. They only sell it in four foot sections--for 90 bucks!! Does anyone know of another source for this stuff? I'm aware it has to be fuel grade.

Joe rockauto has it by the foot if you go to extras and look at the fuel section. They had a variety of sizes from about 8-15 a foot. Still sorta spendy but better than $90! Buy a foot and sell the other 3 4in sections to others!

joe try another napa store, i bought some from them first of sept. by the foot or more correctly 0.5 foot. cost $14.33 out the door. still very expensive.

napa # is either neh 1055 or nbh 1055. can't read their own receipt.

maybe better yet, who's their big competitor close by? call them and say "can you believe napa will not sell me 0.5 foot?".:P

happy hunting

neh 1055 shows up as a water pump on NAPA Online.

nbh 1055 shows up as 2.25" "Gas filler neck hose".

Joe, this may not be the route you want to go, but I bought mine along with the spring clips and gas cap from Andy B... If you need, I'll dig out my reciept for details ??? Cass, alias littlemo .... Add: pulled my reciept, and if I'm reading their writing correctly, paid a total of $27.50 for all. Hose was $12.00.

Joe..I stay away from atuo zone for the most part..sorta out of the way for me also..but there are things that they stock that the other stores cannot even locate and mainly that is Gabriel shocks...finding shocks here locally can often be a challenge..my advance store could not get the part numbers I gleaned from the Monroe tech sheet and even when I crossed them myself to Gabriel they were still out in left field..Auto Zone had them in stock and pulled them from the shelf awaiting me to swing by after work and grab them. Memory is they were the only ones to deal with for the shocks on the 51 Suburban also. I work the keyboard and phone long before I drive to any store in my area..

Hey Joe, I have some of that hose. I don't know where it is:) I know, I know. After I sent Don some of it a guy I know with a antique saw it and had to have some. I put it on the tool box and it dissapeared. I think I got mine from a antique Chevy dealer. It's been a while. This hose is special. Howe much do you need?

you know us truck guys...always late to the party, I got hose from Andy Bernbaum's.

bad part is that the hose is serviced in either a 3 or 4 foot length..some shops/retailers do not like to piece a hose unless they sell the larger portion first sale..say if serviced 4 foot and customer needs 3..the retialer will get his profit on the 3 foot and then can sell the remainer at a higher "cut fee" rate..

Joe; I just remembered, when I bought my 48 P-15 the guy had a 3' (?) section of hose in the trunk he said he was going to use for the "filler hose". I don't know if it has a special fuel rating, but I do know where it is and I can check it out for you. If it's what you need, heck, I'll send you a section for free.:D Let me know what you're wanting to do, and I'll drag it off the shelf this afternoon and see if there's some identification # on it...:) Cass, alias littlemo... Add. Joe, just pulled down that hose, it is labelled; Gates # 23936 FUEL FILL HOSE 2 1/4" I.D. ( 57 mm) If you need some of this, e-mail me and provide your mailing address, and I'll send you a section . ( might want to provide me with the length you need )

Hmmm. Gates 23936 crosses to NAPA NBH 1135 which is different than the NAPA NBH 1055 listed earlier. Looking on the NAPA Online web site it looks like they are both fuel rated and both 2.25" diameter. But the 1135 is rated for 20 psi while the 1055 has no pressure rating at all. My guess is the 1055 is a better match to the original.

And a little OT, I noticed that the gas tank drain plug changed early in the P15 production. The very early ones used part 112304 which the standard parts group shows as being a 3⁄8-18 plain brass hollow square head pipe plug. The later 1946 and up P15 production uses part 1122359 which is not in the 1944 standard parts book that I have. The illustration for part type code 14-86-13 shows a recessed head plug for maybe a allen or hex key. Any idea what the specifications are for that plug and/or its associated gasket (part 1122361)?.

Thanks!
