ggdad1951
Well I decided to get most of those people that helped me with major FEF stuff sign the cab prior to installing the headliner. If Dave was closer he'd get a big space to sign. BUT I was not careful enough and got drips! Stupid paint pen! 45 minutes later with a bunch of time with mineral spirits and it looks way better! If you don't know where they were very hard to find....whew!
52b3b Joe
Thats a pretty cool idea, I like it! I would have been sweating bullets trying to get those drips off, happy that you were able to get them off with no damage.
ggdad1951
dug out the old floor mat and made a paper template and then the real new mat.
1952B3b23
Looks good, whats the material the mats made out of?
ggdad1951
3/16" thick rubber diamond pattern floor matting I found on the net.
Desotodav
Great job on the mat Mark. Looks very similar to mine - but your holes for the pedals and steering column are on the wrong side (LOL)!!!
48Dodger
I like your attention to, or at least the respect of, details Mark. I build things that are strong, and fast. Not to mention I always make room for unwanted trucks. But the need to understand the smallest parts rarely crosses my workbench. For me, most of the small stuff like correct bolts, washers and/or right material are points of disscussion and not always execution. That's why I like spending time with trucks like Jim Shepard and Gary Matin's. Jerry and Holly's Show winner at the BBQ is incredible and I plan to go visit it at thier home cuz I was kinda busy flippin hamburgers to really enjoy it right. lol I bought the rearview mirror service (had 2 done by Mark) and will have the cables done too. If you have a chance to see Mark's truck up close, bring a camera and listen close.....its a great build! 48D
ggdad1951
Headliner in! Somewhat a pain but all in some of the push pins want to pop out since the headliner doesn't have the curve in the back yet. I assume it will sit better after a few hot days. Jeff Balazs
dug out the old floor mat and made a paper template and then the real new mat. Hey Mark; Another nice job.......but where is the detail drawing with dimensions? That looks really sharp.....I know a guy who needs to make one just like it. Desotodav
I'd take Mark up on that template offer Jeff. It sure made things easier for me (thanks again Mark!). I'd be happy to provide the same template service for any Aussie member who might require the same - with the pedals on the right side (pun intended),

ggdad1951
Nice mid 60"s day today and I had time so feast your eyes! One thing I DIDN'T do with the quiet ride floor kit was to glue the insulation down to the floor....way too much work if I EVER need to pull everything. I taped the silver backed felting together and taped down the edges in the foot wells to hold it in place and put the mat over it all.
Jeff Balazs
Damn Mark, That looks nice. You da Man! Jeff
Merle Coggins
When I did my floor insulation with the Quite Rides kit I cut and taped each floor piece individually. Now I can still remove all of the panels even though the isulation is all glued down. Merle
ggdad1951
ok, seems liek I have the floor mat figured out. If anyone wants a copy of my template, PM me and I'll mail ya one off. Just know you might have to slightly trim it for your cab and whatever you have for floor insulation, so try the paper one first and descide if you need to adjust anything. John-T-53
Looks great. Where did you get the mat from, and is it hard or soft rubber? I like the look of the pyramid pattern. Back up to the mid 60's? I heard from my Dad who is back there for a class reunion right now that it was just snowing a couple days ago... ggdad1951
I bought it online from a floor mat company. It's a mid range durometer rubber. I've got the Company info at work, I will edit this post tomorrow to put that info here. Company is: http://www.rubbercal.com/Santoprene_Rubber.html I got the "Block Surface Design". Yah last Tuesday there were school closures for snow, tomorrow it will be 75°...only in Minnesota it seems! Desotodav
I found that the pyramid pattern was the closest look-alike to the original mat that Mark has from FEF. I saw this in a recent email about snow: Since the snow came all the wife has done is look through the window. If it gets any worse, I'll have to let her in. ggdad1951
FEF fresh from the buff from touch up last fall, that means I can put the fresh re-chromed and painted grill badge back on! Also spent some time touching up the black bolts on the bed from the assembly dings on the bolts and nuts. At some point I will have to spend the HOURS to give him a THOROUGH clean from the buffing spatter...to sunny, windy, and chance of random rain/hail right now. Mopars in the Park I'm READY!
