greg g Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 From nice clean corporate jets to clunky old Texans. And I thought getting old Mopar and Studebaker parts was a challange. Do you get the corporate rae on Car insurance as a perq? Quote
randroid Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Aero, Congratulations are in order! Well done, Sir! -Randy (who just popped a beer in your name) Quote

It's nice working on clean corporate jets but my current company had me over worked and the phone never left my ear 24-7-365 never knew when I was off and kept my fingers crossed and hoped I didn't have to go in on holidays. I did switch to GEICO about a month ago and saved half (was with Allstate). I didn't want to ask and sound greedy so I don't know if I will get any discounts. Quote

aero3113 Posted May 7, 2011 Author Report Posted May 7, 2011 Congratulations! Will there be a relocation in your near future? Thanks Don! No relocation, they are based out of the same airport I work at now. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Thanks Don!No relocation, they are based out of the same airport I work at now. So I take it that fancy toolbox you have has wheels:rolleyes: Quote
Captain Neon Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 I know the feeling. I used to work for one of the largest food processing companies in the USA. Just like you, I had no work-life balance. As far as my boss was concerned, my salary made me his indentured servant. After four months with my less well-known employer, I am thrilled to have made the move to being a department head. My last plant was always on the short list for sale or closure. Current plant is one of the company's jewels. I don't even have to deal with union issues like I did in MO. Not only is cost of living in Topeka the same as Hillbilly Hell, MO, but I bring home a bigger paychecque and the weekends are mine. When I walk out the door at 5, I have 12 hours before I need to start thinking of work again. So, good for you! Quote
martybose Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Thanks Don!No relocation, they are based out of the same airport I work at now. Perfect! That way when they have some weird problem you can come back on a contract basis at about four times your old salary! Marty Quote
Flatie46 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Congrads! Looks like a cool job to have. I love WW2 History, you need to be posting pics of them planes often! Quote
aero3113 Posted May 7, 2011 Author Report Posted May 7, 2011 So I take it that fancy toolbox you have has wheels:rolleyes: LoL,yea but its a far push. Will prob rent a trailer or find someone on the airport to help me with the move. Quote

TodFitch Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Congratulations on landing a job that sounds like it will be more enjoyable and fulfilling than your last! I consider myself really lucky that nearly my entire career I've worked at jobs I've liked. Sounds like you are getting yourself into that type of position too. Quote
louie the fly Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Good luck with your new position. It's a strange feeling changing jobs sometimes. Especially if you've been there a while & like it. I handed in my notice 3 weeks ago & start with a new company on May 16th. After being with my current employer for 7 years, and forming a great working relationship, I felt I needed to switch my career into overdrive. Quote
T120 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Hey Keith,Good luck on your new job.Pretty exciting.Looks like a great team you'll be working with... Quote
PatS.... Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Congrats on the new job...looks like a very interesting position. Sometimes we all need a big change just to recharge our batteries and see something different. If you love what you do, it makes life a whole bunch easier. I did a wholesale change about 5 years ago...so far so good. Even with health challenges I'm still employed and go to work with a smile every day. I hope you will too Quote

Yes Don, I will be flying with them to the airshows. The plan is to make a rotating schedule in the future with the rest of the maintenance guys. Should be a fun experience!
