moose Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Tim, your "hint" of spring looks almost like a full blown summer to me! Yesterday my kids literally begged me to play in our sandbox(center of picture, under a wooden cover) I said no after I checked the box and the sand was soaking wet, because the snow and ice that had been on top for the last two months, was melted by an inch of rain yesterday. Didn't help their cause that it was 35 degrees out. They were just happy to be outside! Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 The first shoots of the daylillies, daffodyls, and crocus are starting to emerge - through the snow. Western New York, 50 and rain Saturday, two inches of snow Sunday, 40s and rain next couple of days, and snow again on the weekend. The usual late winter / early (very early) spring roller-coaster. Gotta love it! Quote
TodFitch Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 The orchards through "the Valley" along highway 120 going to the Sierra were in full bloom last weekend. Very pretty. Still about 8 feet of snow where I go to in the mountains, so that was very pretty too. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I think you are about two days ahead of me. Bradfords are about one day away from full bloom. Daffys have been yellow for over a week. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Wont be long until it looks like this. This picture was taken the first day I drove my car with the new engine in (I think) 2004. Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) My frogs started croaking for the 1st time this year--- yesterday the 7th. Last year they started on the 1st of march. It's been a tough and very long winter! Edited March 9, 2011 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
randroid Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Gents, I thought the first hints of Spring came when we washed the stinking coveralls we never cleaned over the Winter, or rolled off the couch to take a shower. You got better indicators? -Randy Quote
