I know the price of gas is high now and it will only go higher so I'm going out tomorrow and top oft my gas in the old Dodge. I really do not use that car that much but it does give me a good feeling when I know I have a full tank of petrol to cruse around town.

Oby the way our gas at our local Costco is now 3.27 a gallon

You guys are doing well over there. If my calculations are right, our fuel over here is selling around Brisbane (Queensland) for $5.37 a gallon (or $1.42 per litre) at present.

Over 4 bucks a gallon for premium at some stations here in San Francisco.

With all the turmoil in the Middle East, it's gonna get a lot higher before it settles back down...

Well you can send your "cheap" gas up here to BC....we are paying the equivalent to $4.15.....we are the cheapest in the province.....1.10 per liter here and 1.29 in the big city........;)

How much of that price is taxes of some form that you have to pay? We have low by your standards gas prices but our taxes are a bunch smaller than yours. You still have penalties for the size of the engine in your car which encourages small displacement efficient vehicles.

I think about 65% is tax in one form or another ,whether this is justified or not depends largely, I think on ones political viewpoint.Myself,I tend to sit on the fence whilst reserving the right to bitch about the high price.

My wife buys groceries at a store that has a program that lowers your gas price depending on what, and how much, you buy. We will go today and cash in our $1.70 per gallon discount on 30 gallons of gas. She expects to accrue about another $.70 when she shops this week. We have been doing this for about a year or so going every couple months, filling the pickup and some gas cans to make sure we get all 30 gallons. As soon as I get home I put stabill in the gas cans and then fill the old cars and lawn equipment. Both old cars are full right now so I emptied my cans in one of my daily drivers to make room for more today. When the weather gets nice I will hopefully be feeding the old cars again. With the amount of gas I purchase this is a drop in the bucket. But every little bit helps and we have to buy food anyway. So props to her for doing it.
