I now have a barn find ’48 D-24 business coupe in my garage. The car is a Montana car that seems to be unmolested, and, other than some floor issues, looks to be rust free.

I remember seeing one of these coupes when I was a teenager in the early 70’s. Have wanted one ever since.

I am going to do a stock restoration. I am still deciding if I am going to do a rolling restoration, or, a frame off restoration. I am now leaning heavily toward a frame off. I have some restoration experience, did a rolling restoration of an MGA and recently restored my ’66 mustang.

Glad this forum is here, will be a great help getting the job done right. I’ll have a lot of questions, and, I promise to use the search function before I ask. I have a lot to learn about this old Dodge.

Spent the first week gutting the interior… Taking lots of pictures and making lots of notes as I go.

Even though the forum says I just joined, I actually joined in November ’07, and, had lurked for a while before that.

Nice find. I love those big butt coupes. Very glad to hear you are going to do a stock restoration. I did a body off restoration on my '38 Chrysler and was glad I went that route. Good luck with the project!

Well, ya went gone and done it! Of course, you realize there's no going back. Once you're in, you're in!

You'll have fun with that and it's gonna be cool when you're done. Nice find!

Nice find ! My 42 ( J.Lo ) is a 1 year body style just before the 46-48's but very similar. I think mine was black originally too but the previous owner painted it Panama Sand. I'm not sure if these colors were used for your year but maybe.

Enjoy your project.
