So you are leaving? That's too bad but I understand why you would. A real man has to "stick to his guns" so to speak and I applaud you decision to leave. Good luck to wherever you go.

it bothers me the level of disrespect people here have for others, were suppose to be mopar family, on here its the opposite, i dont care anymore, this forum has a bad name out there, and everyone i speak to says the same thing its always a few guys ruining it for everyone else.

On a local menu is the following.

We treat our customers llike friends

and our friends like family.

To which I added Oh great!!! they're going to yell at us and take us for granted.

If there is such a bad reputation associated to denisons of this venue, your continued quest to gain counsel and tuition here in begs a question.

I shall, henceforth tender neither in your regard. Hopefully, this will relieve a modicum of your enfuriation (sic).

For some reason all of Michaels posts seem to go in this direction.

But he is trying to learn, he just has a different way of learning. there are a few more people on here that have gone through the learning curve and also asked a lot of repeat questions but never got hammered like this. one thing about the Internet their is a lot of good info out there but also just as much bad info, trying to decipher what is fact or not is hard sometimes. i have to agree though Michael, sometimes after the same answer has been given, it is a pretty good bet that is the truth and you should take it under advisement. i for one wished i had the money he has cause i would have some bad a-ss toys!!

Michael........ I have talked with you on the phone and can say that you don't talk like you write. You should slow down a tad with the keyboarding and also consider that intertwined with the facts, there is a lot of tongue and cheek going on too.

I'm an old fart that was taking apart and building up these cars back in the sixties. Other guys here were buying, driving, fixing and assembling these things when they were new. And some have just come on board and are like a list ball in the tall weeds. There's a lot of good info here if you are tuned in. If you are involved with old cars, you'd better develop a sense of humor early on.

I can tell you that the advice given on this thread has been accurate. Run them by your machinist if you don't believe me. Just read it over and don't take the wisecracks too seriously and you will get the answers you need and live longer too. It works.

Just my 2 sense......Btw...It took me over 25 min. to write this.. and I'm still OK.

Anyway, as far as I can tell, you have a 1947 Plymouth with the original block. This engine, according to my manual, is a 218 Cubic Inch, which has a stroke of 4 & 3/8, compared to the Dodge 230, which has a stroke of 4 & 5/8. I could not figure why you were looking for a 230 crank, but I guess you could make a 230 using a Dodge crank in a Plymouth engine. A good Motor Manual would be a good investment. I found a Chilton's Auto Repair Manual 1940-1953 on ebay. This has been a big help. Anyway,,,,Good Luck, & hang in there. ....Bob...........

Ben your post about the heet reminded me of a story my Aunt told me over the holidays. She's a prof at a college in Maryland. She teaches healthy eating excersise and diet type of classes. As part of one assignment a student stated that starting an excersise routine had improved his "self of steam" Guess that expensive paper on the wall doesn't always mean you paid attention and learned.

Oy! Make it stop!

I'll 2nd this motion Jim:rolleyes:, this thread keeps turning ugly, lots of good advice, but where is this going:confused:?

the guns were shooting before, now we got smokin barrels.

Michael, come on already, give everyone a bit of a break on this, as you say, this should be about Old Mopar talk.

Let's get back on track, let's focus on, the answers, instead of going on this merry-go-round of incessant ???s, from every idea that pops up.

So lets not "stir the pot", and get back to basics here, you need a crank, so buy 1 , or as been suggested, buy a complete engine, this is not Rocket Science, put this on the shelf for a few days, I am sure you will find what you are looking for, when you least expect it.....

Michael, I am not trying to reprimand you, just trying to see if we can get this back on track, and pointed in the right direction.

In other words, let's create a Win-Win situation, if 1 is the loser, inevitably we all will lose. Let's face it, some of these threads have become distasteful.

Let's get on with things here, to the bottom line, Mopar Education at it's finest.

There is 1 principle that will keep a Man in everlasting ignorance, that is "Contempt Prior To Investigation". Nuff said from this armchair philosospher....

Ohoh Joel you didn't listen to Michael. He said adjourned. Apparently he's been upgraded from lawyer to judge.

I was writing fast typed that in a about 30 seconds.

Over 500 wpm? You should call the Guinness people. The current world record is just over 200 wpm, and set in 1946 by a professional secretary.

I have nothing to add but for the sake of the character of this forum, Michael could you please go back to your earlier post and edit out the expletive? In the four years I have participated on this site, I have never seen such language used, which is something I really like about this site.

Thanks.

Michael,

I am not suggesting anything of the kind. I think your response is just as effective without it.

Thank you very much for deleting it, I appreciate it.

"IF YOU DONT LIKE MY THREADS DONT READ THEM, (PARDON MY LANGUAGE IN THIS CASE, AGAIN IM ENFURIATED)"

You know you have given some good advice. I have read your questions observed the responses and also observed the eventual degeneration of the threads as time goes along.Truly disappointing. I hope you build your perfect car. It seems that is what you want, and that is fine. But when you come on here and ask questions - like 230 crank issue and you get some answers from folks who are trying to help why not just say nothing or thanks and do what you were going to do anyway?

On a couple of occasions I have contributed to the threads you stated- I did in this one - remember" investigate the engine on e bay"?? Might have saved you some money but you chose another path. Anyway since it appears you want to build a perfect vehicle at rather high cost I cannot help you . I tend more toward the economical approach like most members here.

We mostly tend to be hobbyists not champion builders. Also I think I speak for many when I say a lot of us are really interested in finding ways to do things and sharing them with others on this space. You seem more interested in telling us what you are and how much money you have. Thats fine , if you like that. I do not care for it myself.

So in the future I shall refrain from responding to any of your questions that way I can let you know I disapprove of your language here and your rather arrogant statements. I am not a great lawyer- it took me 2 times to pass the bar of Ga. but I have made a decent living fro 38 years doing it and enjoying the company of may of my friends here. Anyway good luck to you on your quest hope you find what you need. I would also encourage others who feel as I do not to respond to your questions or tirades-it seems rather non productive.

Again Good Luck with your quest for the perfect car.

Lo Earle

As a gentle reminder or note to the public at large, going back and cleaning up your thread is only good if you have not been quoted..you cannot recant anything that someone quoted you as saying..the words are locked on here and "they" are not reflective of the atmosphere generally viewed as appropriate..and to quote our web host, be sure of what you want to say prior to hitting the "enter" key..I am not trying to police the board, just expressing my disappointment..
