When I first bought my 50 Plymouth the hood emblem was on upside down. I also see that on e-bay auctions or just random pics of Plymouth's. Is there a reason or do people not realize it is on upside down.

Here is a pic when I first took the car home, look at the emblem

Keep looking and you'll see a few P15 owners that put the tail light bezels on upside down. I've seen it twice. Evidently they fit just fine that way. Looks really goofy though.

the AACA has a thread on this very issue right now...most folks just don't look close at the emblems..the badge easily will flip..however most folks do not recognize the icon of the kneeling indians offering the corn to the Pilgrims, this is a bit less obvious on the 52..but to get the ship upside...just remeber the ship sails on a sea of blue..put the blue at the bottom and you good to go..49 through 51

Tim,

There could be a reason they put the ship upside down. They may think the ship is sailing at the South Pole. Then if you're looking from the North Pole, the ship would be upside down.:D

I always told people it's easier to drive and walk to the south, because it's always down hill.:D Then coming back home to the north, it's all uphill.:D

Norm...some things are always uphill BOTH ways...like the job listed below:

I need volunteers..I have to move a huge German made oak shrunk..it weights a ton it seems...time to put in some new hardwood flooring..it s about 8' wide, 7' high and 32 inches deep..sets on 8 legs..aaaugh!

Tim,

Moving something like your German Shrunk is no problem at all. I can move that with one finger. Real easy, just push the buttons on the telephone and call a contractor. When they were there moving it, I'd sit back and smile while enjoying a nice cup of coffee.:D When they were finished, I'd write a check. Now, that part is a little more difficult. I'd have to use two fingers and my thumb to hold the pen to write the check.:D

my unit is not so elaborate as that as this one is for a bedroom and is actually a his and hers wardrobe with a fancy center section that is a mirror behind mirrored double doors the his and her sections has slide out tops that has the closet hanger bars..the men's side has tie rack and cane/umbrellas rack built into the door..lower center has a set of drawers at the bottom..the top draw pulls out, hidden inside latch releases the drawer front and it hinges down for a desk top while the rear of the drawer has a built in secretary...none the less..it is solid oak and the crown alone is quite heavy..

Maybe it is indicative of Plymouth being torpedoed by mother Chrysler corporation so the owner put the ship upside down.

Just like a Navy squadron after its been decomissioned, all aircraft insignia on flight suits and jackets are worn upside down....

Or..........they are protesting. Some fly the flag upside down to protest something or another.

I recall reading several years ago that some '50 Plymouth hoods had the emblem holes in the wrong place and that's why the emblems were installed upside down. The article went on to say that the emblem can't be mounted upside down if the hood holes are in the right place.

we shrunk not from the task at hand and have moved the shrunk off to the side..the furniture has all been moved to one side of the room and I got a good start on the hardwood flooring..after getting my starter row layed out right..I ran 6 1/2 rows..(24 foot wide room), only 45 1/2 rows to go...oh and this is not the snap fit stuff..this is getting nailed down..tongue and groove..

wife stopped by uptown and got a second set of the moving pads...actually she got two sets.the hard plastic for moving on carpet and then the foam/felts for sliding on hardwood..they made a believer out of me..I cheated and sat on my butt and pulled from way down low..was not bad..but I guarantee you that even though it was not that many days back I run the hardwood in the upstairs room and hall..it was a bit rough on me starting another room..felt a few muscles not quite used past few weeks..an ok tongiht and am back to running hardwood..
