Young Ed Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Is the #1 header tube as close to the fuel pump in real life as it looks in the picture? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Looks like he might want to install some sort of heat shield, ya think, Ed? Quote
Young Ed Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Sure looks that way. Some of it is hopefully just the angle of the pic. Looks great otherwise. Quote
greg g Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Looks great. I concure with the commets regarding protecting the fuel pump. Quote
mpn23748 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 yes the fuel pump is to close to the headers, I have already purchased an electric pump, I will be installing a fuel pump block off plate Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Looks great. Does your engine have full flow oil filtering capabilities? What filter are you using? Did or do you know if the internal pipe plug has been installed in the oil passage way to make the full flow filter work? Quote
mpn23748 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Don, yes it is a full flow engine, it came out of my 54 Desoto, I have the originol canister and a spin on style that I got from another 265 I have Quote

mpn23748 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 phillips exhaust, I do not have the contact info right now, I did get it off of this forum Quote
Olddaddy Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 That is one TRULY badass flathead!!!! Quote
RobertKB Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Looks good and I am sure it will really haul. Wish more guys would do this rather than drop a V8 in. It would be interesting to see how a motor like yours compares in acceleration to a regular 350 SBC which is the motor of choice for the majority of hot-rodders. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I'll second that Robert. And if more guys did it it could get cheaper as more suppliers repro the goodies Quote
mpn23748 Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 i have recieved a few PM's on a contact for the headers, he now has a website, this is it http://www.exhaustedbyphillips.com Quote
Shifticus Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 VERY sweet looking. Any plans to dyno it? Quote
mpn23748 Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 no, but I sure would have been interesting to see what it would make for hp and torque Quote
