DonaldSmith Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Seems too early in the year. I would do away with daylight savings time altogether. Quote
greg g Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 for some reason, the time change always srews me up for a day or two. Nothing real big just a day or two of the blahs. Quote
Captain Neon Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 The more I learn about DST the more I say it is time to end it. People are working around the clock so businesses and homes are not reducing their electricity usage just because of a time shift. It isn't the '60s any more where the sidewalks roll up at sundown. The costs in adjusting to DST outweigh any perceived energy savings. I would be in favour of a bill repealing daylight saving time. Quote
RobertKB Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 I would be really interested if it does save energy as the government claims. I personally could live without it. Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Besides the time change messing with my inner clock it's a real pain in the keester for another reason. I collect old electric wall clocks and it takes what seems like an hour to go around and reset all of them. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 with all them old clocks..seems you would be able to save more time... I have few old mantle and wall clocks..the wall clocks I carried home from Germany years back..the mantle clocks are family hand-me-downs.. Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 with all them old clocks..seems you would be able to save more time.... Yup, You'd think so , but I just don't have enough hands. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Golly, I must be the odd ball here, I love day light saving time. It seems like I get more done. Tony C Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Golly, I must be the odd ball here, I love day light saving time. It seems like I get more done. Tony C I'm with Tony, I like Daylight Savings time as I get more done during the day. Dennis:cool: Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 leaving work at 2:30 in the afternoon makes for a complete work day for me when I get home..LOVE IT!!!! Quote
steveplym Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 I love daylight savings time too. Can get home from work and still have 2 hours of daylight left to do what I want to do. I'd be for rolling back standard time. Just leave it alone with DST. I hate November and getting off work just as it gets dark. Quote
greg g Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Well ai guess it makes the railroads run better than when day light hours were adjusted to be longer way back when. People with daytime jobs probably didn't much like that getting paid for 8 hours while working 11. Supposidly one of the benefits was to give agricultural interests more daylight during planting and harvest seasons. Probably saved candle wax and lamp fuel also. ajust means its still dark when I get up. Just noticed that my all knowing Windows system has not yet picked up that DST started, nor apparently has this forums server at is is now 4:59, check out the post time. Do we need to reset our ignition timing, to reflect the advance?????? Quote
billwillard Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 I love living. Don't care what time it is. Bill Quote
Brendan D25 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 I love living. Don't care what time it is. Bill Well said Bill. Sasketchewan is the only province in Canada that does not change their time. Are there any states that don't change? Quote
greg g Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 I think Indiana was the last to convert. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Arizona does not use daylight savings time . Dennis:eek: Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Do we need to reset our ignition timing, to reflect the advance?????? Greg; How can I re-set my ignition timing when I am in Seattle and my car is in Tennessee? Also too much advance makes my engine ping. When I tried to ping my home puter it timed out as it is turned off. When I return home my home puter will be all confused as it got my ping but at the incorrect time. What should I do????? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 two shots of bourbon and keep away from anything mechanical/electrical Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 two shots of bourbon and keep away from anything mechanical/electrical Tim; I have busted my A$$ doing mechanical and electrical work for the past several days. garbagestate 44 Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 I'm not sure but I think Oklahoma doesn't do it either. Quote
steveplym Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 I think Indiana was the last to convert. If I remember right most of Indiana never change over to standard time in November, they just stay on DST. I know in the winter when I drive over to Terre Haute or Indianapolis the time always changes over to an hour ahead of time. If I go in the summer the time stays the same. Some Indiana folks will have to chime in. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 All of Indiana observes DST, however Indiana is in two time zones. Five counties in Northwest Indiana and five counties in Southwest Indiana are in the Central time zone. The other eighty-three counties are in the Eastern time zone. Quote
