  1. Put a straight edge across both surfaces. Top or base or both might be a little warped.
  2. Not too much to report. Little paint polishing, just an update. Running like a swiss watch, daily driving soon.
  3. Put it in gear and rock it back and forth.
  4. Yes sir, it has a back seat from the factory.
  5. I was up at 5 this morning and flipped an axle and c nothed my friends 65 Jimmy. Got home around 4 and couldn't help but to tinker on the Plymouth and take a few pictures. Getting acquainted with my daily and just sitting by herself being awesome.
  6. How's the oil pressure? I'd be checking the rod bearings. Every rod knock I've heard lessens as you rev the motor.
  7. Now that I can drive in and out of my garage, I decided to take a break from the mechanical stuff and do a little cleaning. Interior was pretty nasty. Dirt, sand, seat and seat cover debris. I gave it a good sweep and vacuum and polished the dash. Probably going to throw a seat cover on the front seat and run it for now. It really needs the interior done though. Couple pictures.
  8. Scrape and clean as much of the loose stuff that you can. Clean it with the cleaner of your choice and rinse it thoroughly. Blow it out with compressed air, make sure it's dry. Brush some por15 in there, you'll be golden. Make sure the paint doesn't run out of any seams or holes at the bottom of the door. Por15 is no joke, can be messy. Wear good gloves and a respirator too. That really isn't bad though, I've worked on much worse.
  9. Soooo, took Jane out for her first drive in who knows how long. Gave her a proper bath too. Still some tinkering to do but getting close!!
  10. I would use the correct reducer made for urethane basecoat. Also, you will have to clearcoat it. Base is only for color, offers no protection or shine. Once you get the repaired area covered, you can thin the base more to blend it out. After you are happy with how it looks, clear the entire panel.
  11. When cars were designed by artists, not wind tunnels and compiter geeks. Nice score.
  12. You don't need a lift to swap a clutch. One thing I do like better than jackstands are ramps. I just did a clutch on my 59 f100. It's only a little 3 speed but under 3 hours start to finish with a coffee break or two. Clutch wasn't bad but the throwout bearing failed. Replaced everything while I was there. I say go for it, pretty simple operation. Good luck.
  13. From the store here on the website. Great quality and even better service. I messed up on my address and he resent them at no extra charge. Get some!
  14. Still tinkering, getting close to driving her. Just wanted to update with my latest addition.
  15. Make sure the throttle shaft isn't sloppy. I chased the same problem with a holley 1904. Turned out the shaft was fairly sloppy where it went through the base and was sucking air through it.
  16. All of the parts I've bought from mopar pro have been of great quality. I haven't used his clutch parts but for under 400 bucks and made in the USA, no brainer. Depending on how.much you drive, you'll probably never have to replace it. By the way, your car is really.nice, going to be a sweet cruiser with the overdrive.
  17. Just wanted to do a quick update. Installed the fuel tank and lines. She got a new water pump also. Molded hoses and fan belt. Waiting on a few odds and ends. Couldn't stand the engine color any longer so I did a quicke prep and paint. VHT cast iron because I had a can on the shelf. Also put some blue lacquered cloth plug wires. Looks much better in my opinion. Doing the brakes next starting tomorrow. Hope to be driving it soon.
  18. Those are shank lugnuts for mags. Use the smaller original style lugnuts. Unless you are using really thick spacers.
  19. Get new perches, tractor supply has them. Use your existing springs, can't see any benefit to using the ranger springs. After you cut the perches off of the new axle, chuck it in there, don't tighten the u bolts too tight. Put the wheels back on and put it back down on the ground. Set your pinion angle and make sure you're good left to right. Tack weld the perches. Jack it up and either weld it where it sits or pull it back out and weld it. Can't offer advice on the spacers, I use Cherokee axles and the stock wheels bolt right up. A good driveline shop can make or modify your driveline.
  20. Do the work yourself, that's 75% of the fun. Me personally, I will never buy a done car. I don't want someone elses car and that includes who's working on it. The newset thing I drive is from 59. They keep you tinkering but like I said, that's most of the fun. Have fun and good luck.
  21. Crush washer
  22. Haha, yeah, I always keep a tally on my projects. I like to know what I have into stuff, especially my bikes that I put way too much in. I stopped counting after 6k on my last Ducati build but I wouldn't sell it for double that. I know I will end up with less into this car than I could sell it for but I will never sell it. I'm already too attached and I haven't driven her yet
  23. Soooo, a little tinkering, doing the usual cleaning and fiddling and she fired up! I have yet to rebuild the carb and do a tune up but she lit off. Fuel pump is pumping ,put a new metal filter on. Sat there and idled like a champ and has great oil pressure. Gauge reads zero and 80, nothing in between but it was sitting about 3/4 of the way to 80 at idle so 60ish I would say. I have been keeping track of every penny spent just so I will know how much I have into it when I'm done. As of right now I am $2,720.80 in. Now I can start to sort the rest of it out. Tune up, carb rebuild, cooling system, stopping and steering safely and drive her!
  24. I just went through this today with my Plymouth. I took it apart and found old crusty grease where the bendix operates. I was able to clean it up and get it operating. I'd bet yours is crusted with grease as well. Good luck.
  25. Sorry that you are having to go through that Knuckle. Non hodgkins lymphoma took my dad in 2009. There was no battle, 3 weeks after we found out he was gone. Glad you are here and fighting. Sending good thoughts your way. I wanted to update progress on plain Jane. Water pump is locked up tight, starter is a bit jenky too. No biggie, easy to fix those. My concern was that the motor may be locked up. This car has been sitting a long while. I have been letting the cylinders soak in the secret sauce since I brought her home Saturday. I have been patiently waiting to put a wrench on it. Well, today I did and it's free as a bird. Had no problem wrenching it over. I'm pretty confident once I get the starter sorted she'll fire right up.
