  1. Change oil and filter, drain gastank and refill with non ethanol gas, push the gas petal a few times and turn key. If it doesnt run well then worry about the carb etc. Might add some fuel system additive-cleaner to gas.

    Door Rubber

Bought mine at Bernbaum and they are OK on the vertical but bad news across the bottom because there is a radius there and the seals glueing surfaces are square. Dont know why they didnt make the seals with a radius relief.
  3. I bought a re-chromed set on e-bay a couple months ago for $250....
  4. Alot easier to find an overdrive trns.
  5. Did they all have this feature or just the deluxe models.
  6. You could almost say stuff not from the Chrysler Corp offered by third parties while the car was nearly new would be original.. Almost..
  7. I remember way back when my friends had 1946-1948 Plymouths they had I believe a colored disc in the speedometer display that started out green and gradually turned red after you got over about 55 mph..or so.. With the speed way up there the whole display was red. Was this an original feature or an ad on.
  8. Didnt know it had a diffuser. Ill have to check on this as mine doesnt have it in there.
  9. The bulb holder screws onto it from the inside of the dash. I have an extra one if you dont have it.
  10. Hope he replaced the cam and lifters.. Wonder if a higher cam is still available for this motor. Be nice to soup her some.. Twin carbs and dual exhaust would be cool too. She is looking good though !!!
  11. Thanks guys.. LeBarron Bonney co. Has these windows in various sizes with SS inside and outside and glass to fit.. Total with shipping is around $300.. Made for Fords but size is close enough. Ill wait to hear more on this here about the size.
  12. I had a cracked head on an Olds v-8 once and the motor was ok at slow speeds but overheated right away at hiway speeds. There was nothing to indicate it was cracked at all. No loss of anti-freeze, no decirnable air bubbles, nothing. Finally pulled the motor down to find out it was cracked.
  13. Can an owner of one of these please post the convertible back window dimensions ? Thx
  14. I run a hose from the bleeding valve on the brake cylinders to a glass filled half full with brakefluid with the hose under the surface so I can see the air coming out. When the air bubbles stop close the valve and move on. After a few slow pumps keep the master cyl as full as possible. Works best when you can get someone to push the pedal while you are at the brake cyl. I also agree you should buy a new master cylinder. This should be only a fifteen minute job.
  15. Bought SS trim that goes between rear fenders and the body. They came from Bernbaum in straight pieces. I managed to wreck them both trying to bend them to the cars contours. Any one succesfully installed these ?
  16. Ugly cars but must have good at the old drive-in movies !!
  17. Id say this is worse than leaving the car out so it can breathe. Water condense inside ?
  18. Replace the generator with a one wire altenator and forget you ever had an ammeter.
  19. I left my old radio in and am installing a moder AM-FM CD player either in the glove dept. or attached under where the key and heater controls go. To each his one though.
  20. My 46 Ply convert Im keeping the dash intact. Converted to 12 volt and bought a couple resistors off e-bay for $1.50 each and yesterday installed them ahead of the gas gauge and high beam indicator. Cant get to the bulb in the highbeam light. Both work fine now. I have a 350/350 chevy drivetrain. The Plymouth speedometer cable will hookup to the chevy 350 trns. but I did this once before and the original speedometer registered high.. Used to scare the hell out of passengers when I was going about 60 and it read 80.. Im checking into correcting this somehow. Think there is a gear in the trns, that can be changed. Meanwhile Ill just estimate once I determine the difference.
  21. Didnt mean no driveshaft fab. We used to blow out heavy dute clutches back when in the 47 plymouth we had with the big chrysler six but never a rear end. Maybe the automatic wont be too hard on it. Dont want to get into cutting and welding so Ill keep it the way it is..THX
  22. I have a 350 with an automatic trns in my 46 Ply and would like to know what later model rear ends will fit and be best for this without doing fabrication. Id like to have a parking brake again and not so sure if the original will holdup.
  23. Darn hard to keep air out while hooking up the lines to the master cyl. There is a sequence to use when bleeding the system.. I had an awfull time bleeding mine until I let it sit for a few days. I had a bad new brake cyl. and before I realized it was bad I had gotten air mixed up with the brake fluid so it was kinda milkey looking. Musta seperated after sitting because when I tried again it was real good. Must be why they say to press the brake slowly when bleeding the system.. Sequence.. Passinger side rear.....driver side rear.....passenger side lower then upper.....driver side lower then upper.
  24. While we are on the subject Im nearing the completion restoring my 1946 Plymouth convert and need a couple small things of trim.. The SS piece that goes above the latch side of the door on the upper corner , the little bullet shaped ss trim piece that goes on the canvas top, and the little plated part that goes on the vent window frame that the vent window swivles in at the top. THX Ill post some pictures when Im done.
