  1. It could be for Overland which Chrysler ended up with in a very roundabout way... Follow Overland to Willys and follow ownership.
  2. Help please.. The wooden tacking strip for the roof that goes across the top on my 46 is missing. I would like to correspond with someone with a 46-48 Plymouth convertible.. I need a dimension to make a new one. Thanks Dale 218 963 7551...
  3. Buy new cylinders..
  4. You can buy a double master cylinder with a vacuum booster and padels that attaches where the old master cylinder for around $250...

    Wirin'

Why not just replace the wires where need be. I put on a one wire altenator and didnt use the ampmeter so I eliminated about half the wiring. Definitly stay away from the cheap connectors.
  6. I have a Pertronics on a different 12 volt car and am going back to points and condenser. Having trouble where the car wont get spark when the motors hot.. Might not be the Pertronics fault but I dont want the uncertainty. A P-15 runs great with the mechanical points etc.
  7. If you have a brake fluid leak that has gotten the brake shoe wet be sure to replace those shoes.. Otherwise it will grab and it never dries out. Sounds like it could be time for all the brake parts to be replaced.
  8. How did the Jeep rear end fit as to wheel width, and bolting to the rear springs, etc ?
  9. I put a chevy 265 motor with a powerglide in a 47 Plymouth with the existing rearend one time.... The Plymouth driveshaft slid into the Chevy driveshaft and all I had to do is run a bead around it. I was lucky for the slip fit but I dont see where the problem is using the driveshaft the transmission used mating to the Cherokee rearend driveshaft.
  10. I have a usable collar if anyone needs one. Ill send it to a member free of charge to help.
  11. Conventional coil hookup plus or minus doesnt really matter I believe. By the picture it looks like he could use a Pertronics high output coil.
  12. Its worth much more if a buyer can hear it run and see the oil pressure etc. .. Much more.
  13. Wouldnt you just use the driveshaft that fits the transmission and join it to the driveshaft that fits the differential ? Did you use the whole Cherokee rearend ?
  14. I went with the original 15 inch 1948 Plymouth rims and bought 670-15 radial 2 3/4 whitewalls Coker from Summit racing.. They had the original looking treads and looked like bias type.. VERY satisfied. Just got the Plymouth dog dish hub caps from Bernbaums. They are not right for the 46 thru 48 models but are the 41-42 type.. Red ship with slanted Plymouth letters. Look great on the reddish maroon wheel paint and chrome beauty rims.
  15. The plater who did mine said he had to separate the SS piece from the pot metal not only because of the prep involved but also dis-similar metals in the plating process. Make sure to take them apart yourself before sending the pot metal handles out.
  16. I ground out the depressions because I didnt think they would come loose without doing this. I didnt want to wreck them but if they will come loose without grinding them so much the better.
  17. I just re-installed the handles on my 1946 Plymouth.. Iverson Automotive in Minnetonka, Minnesota did a perfect job for $150 per handle. I did grind out the depressions holding on the collar and was unable to crimp them back on after turning them 90 degrees so used gorilla glue to glue them back. Pushed them tight after the glue hardened some and they are nice and tight now.
  18. Lets accept these refugee cars and bring them to the USA... I have dibs on the Plymouth. They deserve citizenship..
  19. This vintage Chrysler is just begging for a 440 ci. with a torque-flite...Power steering and power disc brakes.. Wunderbar !! Burn up the Autobon ...

  21. Good to hear they didnt have side cardboards.. Finally get a break on spending money. Ill make the trunk divider and spray it with black primer..
  22. I would cancel the order and get one you know is like the original.
  23. No I hadnt.. I see they have carpet trunk mats and dividers to the back seat there.. Didnt Plymouth in those years have cardboards along the sides of the trunk ?
  24. I have a Bernbaum front window gasket and havnt tried to use it yet.. Worse part is if I have a glass company install it and it doesnt fit Im not only out the gasket price but the installation money too. These gasket sellers should be checking out the installation before they offer the repro for sale. Im going to very mad if this isnt correct. I should have saved some old gasket.. Maybe Ill go to the junk yard here and check out the gasket on a 47 there with a broken glass first.
