  1. If that Ply is a 1946 thru 1948 Bernbaum has the repro original that goes where that 6 inch trip went for "only" $265 apice.. Hurry as they arnt getting any more in..
  2. Are you using the pink anti-freeze for this aluminum-steel combo ? Ive heard the other eats away at the gaskets. VW uses the pink stuff.
  3. Does the car steer harder with the radials now ? Im debating whether to go with bias or radials on my convert.
  4. ClassicFlatGlass.com has a full set for convertibles including the rear one for around $380... tele 530-626-6923
  5. I dont know of any but you might check with a store that specializes in bulbs..
  6. Battery and bulbs specialty stores now have single pole LED old style 12 volt bulbs... Bought one and it fits the old socket and is really bright.
  7. Dont think the transmission has to run parallel. I had a 55 Desoto with a hemi and the factory installation had the motor in crooked to center by about two inches. Universals are made to run crooked.
  8. Those Suburban seats are everywhere. I found mine off Craigslist.
  9. Anyone know how tough the differential is on a 1946 Plymouth.. I have a stock Chevy motor with a 350 automatic in along with the stock Ply rearend.. For ordinary driving I would think it would be OK with the auto trns.
  10. Way back in my misspent youth in 1960 my friend had a 1947 Plymouth 2 door sedan and put a new Sears rebuilt Chrysler 6 cylinder that came bored 1/16 over.. It had a stromberg carb and split manifold. Sounded good.. Dragging on the old University ave in St.Paul where there were about 30 consecutive stop lites and three lanes we got alongside a 1960 Bonniville and a 1959 Buick. We beat them every time for the whole course. The Pontiac second and the Buick last. The guy driving the Pontiac stopped us to look under the hood. My friend told him it was a stock Plymouth because unless you sit them along side one another they look the same. So anyway using the Chrysler six with slight modification was pretty darn good. I think to install the Chrysler the frame under the balancer had to be notched and something with the radiator. Great days back then. At 73 now Im nearly done restoring my 1946 Plymouth convert. I put in a Chevy 350 with a 350 turbo in but in retro I would have found a Chrysler six and bored it out some and added a couple carbs.
  11. Toss that old radiator and install a new aluminum one for less than $200....Most likely plugged up and ready to leak.
  12. Have you tried puting on an adjustable gas pressure regulator ?
  13. Clutch linkage shouldnt be a problem if you add a hydraulic one. Kits are available an dont cost much. Only have to push clutch in about an inch.
  14. You will have to put in a new trns. crossmember. I put a chevy 265 into a 47 plymouth once and used a 4 inch channel for this and it went easy. If you use an automatic trns the plymouth speedometer cable will work also but registers higher than it should. I used to scare the pants off passengers .. Im putting a chevy 350 with a 350 turbo in a 1946 convert now. If you do this move the motor 1 1/2 inches toward the passenger side to clear the steering box using factory exhaust manifold. Leave the trns. on center.. Speedway Auto has front motor mount bracket and rubber mounts kit along with everything else like trns. flexible dip stick etc.. Im using a repro aluminum radiator along with electric fan and radiator trns. cooler. Using a B&M floor shifter that has a cable so it can be placed about anywhere. With the stock 350-350 Im using the Plymouth rear end but there will not be a parking brake Replaced the seats with tan leather 48 inch wide ones I got that are like new from mid 1990s Chevy Suburbans. People never hardly use them and they are mostly like new. Got them from two different sellers for $30 apice. Good luck..
  15. Once the shoe has brake fluid on it you might as well throw it away. It will grab. I suggest new cylinders shoes and master cyl. and check out those lines. Brake failure can be fatal.
  16. Replace the master cylinder no matter what. When bleeding the brakes there is a proper sequence to get the air out of the front cylinders. I think its the bottom ones first but not certain.
  17. Bernbaum has sideview mirrors that attach where the six inch long ss trim is located ahead of the front door.
