  1. I think the rectangle end fits on the sheet metal cover that goes over the exhaust manifold and the round end goes on the bottom of the air cleaner snorkel. Carb air pre-heater.
  2. A finishing nail will work, too.
  3. That little clip is a spring that makes the door pop out when you unlatch it. I don't have that little spring clip and I really miss it.
  4. That really looks nice. You say it's not perfect, but it certainly looks perfect to me.
  5. At the top end there is a slotted hole to slide under the end nut and washer on the manifold, the other end has a small hole that fits on a long screw sticking up from the fuel pump. Looking down at it from the passenger side of the motor, the screw would be at the 9 o'clock position or furthest to the rear of the motor.
  6. Apparently I have done something wrong. I didn't use any sealer on the head gasket or on any of the head bolts, and Yet nothing leaks. I must have messed up somwhere.
  7. The end of the rod is hook-shaped. Stick it up through the seal and hook it into the hole in the arm. You can do it by feel, you know the hole in the arm is 90degrees from the arm so turn the shaft to hook into it. It ain't rocket science.
  8. I remember it as being metal on one side and something like a hard fiber on the other. I do know it was Fel-Pro with blue stripes of somethhing on one side.
  9. I just put on one on about a month ago, all's well, so far. I didn't use any sealer, but I believe the secret is in the torque. Once finger tight, once to 30lbs, once to 50lbs and once to 70 lbs. Run the motor until its as hot as you will ever drive it. Shut it off, wait ten minutes while you find your tools, then once more around back up to 70, not past. This is what works for me, there are no guarantees on internet advice.
  10. So, if I dissolve a tan toothbrush in laquer thinner, I could pour it into a mold and make dash knobs? This warrants looking into. Casting toothbrushes, thats just goofy enough to work.
  11. Safe paint remover especially for plastics is good old brake fluid. An overnight soak will have the paint sliding off in sheets. I would not use laquer thinner on plastic as it can eat the surace. Put laquer thinner on a craftsman screwdriver handle and you will see what happens.
  12. How many chances do you get to see a movie starring a Zundapp?
  13. Imagine watching that stoned.
  14. thats pretty cool!
  15. I haven't seen a car motor with a flat belt since the 'teens. Well, there was that old compressor in the garage,,,,,
  16. That looks just like the car I had in high school!
  17. Thats the mount for the inner end of the clutch cross shaft. Part 6-52-5. It goes into the end of the cross shaft and bolts to the bell housing.
  18. We had a 92 Spirit that was an alright car At 143k the trans quit shifting and I dumped it for $400. It didn't have a speck of rust onit anywhere. It was as clean as new.
  19. Carb or tank?
  20. Yeah, well, who reads instructions?
  21. This should be comfortable
  22. My son in Fredericksburg VA sent that listing to me and I posted it here. I am very happy that someone got it that will appreciate it!
  23. Now I'm scared. I read that message easily. Does this mean I am as messed up as I thought?
  24. Dan Hiebert, you have given an excellent reason to use gear oil instead of grease. In fact, you changed my mind, educated me, I guess you could call it. I will stop advising the use of grease where oil is recommended. Thank you.
  25. Sounds good to me.
