  1. You cannot mail liquids. I tried sending used parts in an old Shell motor oil case and they wouldn't accept it. No liquids or explsives.
  2. I just saw a set of twisted wrenches at Menards. They were a little thinner than the Crescent brand and would probably be easieer to use, or even modify if needed. Gearwrench was the brand name. They are sold individually or in sets.
  3. They're out there, you just gotta look for 'em. Made is USA by Crescent tools. I found these in a tool store in Anchorage Alaska about four years ago.
  4. There should be a casting date below the distributor. It will give you an idea when it was made, but it may have seasoned for a year or more before it was used.
  5. Don, I see your three little punch marks lined up. Wish I'd thought of that last summer. I'm using an eight hole wheel on a four hole crank and that would have saved me a bunch of pain. Thanks for the education.
  6. Opinion only. There is no benefit to leaving the bell housing on the block during disassembly. But there are drawbacks as you mentioned the extended length will make it less stable. More important, removing the bell housing, clutch and flywheel give you better access to the rear main bearing and those parts are easier to clean when they are off the block. My biggest concern would be tipping it over. I would not consider using a three wheeled stand, thats just asking for trouble. I wore steel capped shoes with metatarsal guards for 40 years, this is the reason. Heavy hunks of metal on your foot can really hurt.
  7. My first guess would be that your power valve is stuck in the up position. Possibly no vaccuum or not enough to pull it down.
  8. Cooper does look like he would like to take a hunk out of the guy that did that to him. The kids appear to be having a great time, tho.
  9. Great pics, Bob. I really enjoy seeing your countryside. Thanks for the ride, once again.
  10. Dats da devil hisself!
  11. Isn't it logical that the automatic converter would be internally fed from the transmission front pump?
  12. To and two are fore.
  13. If tin whistles are made of tin, what are penny whistles made from?
  14. Grey 1950 Chevy 4 door with a cragked block, one wheel brakes, and one knocking main bearing. Cost me $31 and the radio worked.
  15. It couldn't be a wild hare, they don't take no crap offa anybody!
  16. Wow, softer than Charmin and cheaper too!
  17. "He bought an automobile in his early days and completely took it apart to see how it was built." How many of us here have done the same thing? I did it because I couldn't afford to have someone work on it for me, so I had to learn myself. Unfortunately, I turned out much the opposite of Walter P.
  18. Don't try fixin' what ain't broke. If OT's get in your way, skip them.
  19. Good job, Tim. Thats makes a nice birthday present to give yourself. Enjoy it and the cake!
  20. Happy Rotation Day and many more rotations to come.
  21. Goin' thru Warrenton tomorrow. Hold up the rain for me, will ya?
  22. Around here, it's the law that repair shops must save old replaced parts for the customer. If the customer says he doesn't want them, then, and only them may they toss the old parts. I don't know if thats a federal law or not, but it's a state law here in Indianny.
  23. Ya oughtta hear 'em on a 12 volt Buick! Hooeeee!
  24. Before you loosen those brake anchor bolts, at least mark which way the arrows are pointing so you won't have to do a major adjustment to get them back where they were.
  25. Sorry, I spaced on that. Insurance companies tend to upset my thinking. I'm crossing Ohio Monday and now I'm worried about Ohio insured drivers!
