  1. 48 left side, the notches are definitely not lined up opposite each other. Right side the same. Meaning they don't swap sides. Also the notches are not the same size, so I don't really think they could be swapped without severe misalignment.
  2. We alll find those pieces of wire inside the water jacket. They are, or were, part of the sand casting mold. If you leave it in, it won't hurt anything.
  3. And make sure the wires are a heavy enough gauge to handle the amps.
  4. Will someone please discharge this thread ?
  5. If your gonna test it, you should first get yourself a factory shop manual and read it first.
  6. Y'all are gettin' a charge outta this, aint cha ? I feel kinda negative about it, myself. I promise, I quit.
  7. That was a dirty trick posting a post about dirty posts.
  8. 53's are very nice looking.
  9. Painted white plastic or metal wheel covers that are held on by,,,,,,,,,,,hubcaps. There are chrome trim rings also, but they don't cover the wheel.
  10. I think I have found evidenced of people stupider than me! That is the dumbest thing I've seen yet.
  11. I use a needle, it goes through with less pressure and a little faster.
  12. It would be even funnier iif it wasn't so dang accurate.
  13. I think the only difference is the early 46 rim has the outer edge bead rolled under and all the others are pressed out flat to the fender. It should make no difference as far as mounting. It does sound like the right and left are different and won't swap.
  14. Randy and Lynn, I am sorry to hear that will have to go through this, but amazing things are being down now. VA hospitals are about the best care you can get. We wish you the best possible success, knowing that God's will will be done. You have a purpose here and you will be around to fulfill it. May God be with you and guide your doctors hands, we wait anxiously for your quick recovery. Hang in there Lynn, he's too ornery to let this beat him.
  15. I believe they point to the high point on the cam. You start your adjustment with the arrows pointed in to move all the shoes as far from the drum as possible, and then adjust outward. Its not a bad idea to file marks on the heads to indicate the high side if there are no arrows.
  16. A long time ago, we used to prime oil pumps by packing themm with grease. It always worked, but,,,,,,,,,,,,, that was a long time ago. Probly 50 years.
  17. You would probably do better to post on the pilot-house.com forum.
  18. Man, that things got whitewalls and full wheel covers! Pretty spiffy.
  19. Its called a "truck bed".
  20. Thats purty fancy, even for Red Green.
  21. Mail them book rate, its dirt cheap.
  22. Two minutes with that and I am certain that would be the end of my life.
  23. I was in the museum at Ft. Knox several years ago when the boys were still at home. It was great. A large outdoor collection of yanks and such from both WW's and nice stuff inside too. They even had Patton's Cadillac that he died in. While walking around one corner inside, we walked right up to and past a Japanese machine gun nest! One of the boys said "We're all dead now".
  24. Thats how I checked mine. Drive two nails into a 1X2 with about an inch sticking out. Make certain both nail heads are the exact same height. Use this against the wheel edges with the level to check the angle.
  25. I hate to think that you would take advice from me, but I think that I would box the new ones up and put them in the trunk. They're not very big or heavy, and its my experience that if I carry a spare of anything, I'll never need it.
