  1. Here is a link to a 53 overdrive booklet on the imperials club site . There are many other great mopar books online Ed http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/053/Cover.htm
  2. Difference should be about 3 mph by a online tire calculator I have been using Ed http://www.net-comber.com/tirecalc.html
  3. have one or 2 of the plate frames got them at a yard sale one dollar for both just the frames no attachment brackets , have the owners certificate and have a radio tag with the owners name from the radio of my p15 bus coupe (sold car earlier this year)
  4. If the oil pump is not spoken for I could use it ed@oldmopar.com
  5. Ok looks like that answers the P15 now since best I can tell the 217 and 230 is the same block so I am guessing a dip stick from a P15 will work in a newer flathead (217,230) or viceversa
  6. The Rhode island set up I had was planned like that one bag had headlight wiring another ignition and so on. But with a good wiring diagram you can also rip everything out and if you have the dash out it may be the way to go. I do not have the link anymore but back on the old board blueskies had a pretty good write up on his website on how he installed his harness Ed
  7. Sounds like good advice to me.
  8. I have used 2 wiring harness one a 6 volt made by Rhode island Wiring original cloth color reproduction of original and a 12v harness made by American Auto wire a generic style Nither one is cheap the rhode island 6v repro is around $400. I got that one at a discount from ebay a few years ago about $50.00 new and unused was set up for a Pilot house truck. The 12v was about $300 you can get them cheaper but this was well done
  9. I have a collision pats book and for the bottom piece just above the bumper they call it a deflector the part number is 1541331 The cost of that is given as $9.75 back in 54.
  10. Happy Birthday 50's not bad if you plan on living to 100 you only hit middle age. Back in 79 5 years after you early photo I pulled a engine from a Dodge Dart I'm 56 now and still swapping engines and getting younger every day. Ed
  11. I am presently installing a engine in a 85 Cherokee I was originally planning on using the rear in the P15 but this is in really nice shape except for the hole in the oil pan ,engine seized . Anyhow came across a engine to install in it and plan to keep it for use in the winter (if the replacement engine checks out ok) . The paint is in good condition but needs to be cleaned up I tried some compound but it seemed to cause a haze maybe clear coat paint? I looked in the store and there was way to many choices so asking for suggestions Ed
  12. I few months ago a friend of mine got a 6v battery for his P15 I think it was at Pep Boys he replaced a Sams Champion battery that was in the car when I sold it to him. Not sure of the out put but it had a better cca the the sams battery. As for my self I think next time I replace a 6V battery I will try one of the optima? gel cells
  13. Gregg From a owners manual dated 12-47 it shows a full and add oil mark and states when oil reaches add oil mark add 1 quart. So it sounds like the mark you are looking at is what the manual calls the add oil mark
  14. Not much on the wire but have some old directions on my web site on how to install see the link http://oldmopar.com/oldmopar/spot.html
  15. Try http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showforum.php?fid/57/keyword/1917-1959_Chevy_Trucks/ or http://www.stovebolt.com/bboard/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
  16. What engine are you installing, what are you using for engine mounts. I have a 318 that is either going in a P15 or a B1D maybe both if the money stretches far enough . I am still in the planning stage so have not looked at a brake set up on the truck I know I can get a dual master and discs for the P15. Ed
  17. One other thought you said your mechanic, having someone get ,fix and install parts adds a lot of overhead to the price. Many here do there own work which keep the price down. Ed
  18. I always thought the breather draft tube was the same concept. Not sure how you would do it but one of the reasons I like older vehicles is none of that antipollution junk, just something that was built well enough to last 60 + years Ed
  19. at the DEPTCA site there is a online manual for B3B trucks see link below http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/DriversManualB3BandB3C/Drivers_manual_frontcover.html
  20. Any chance of a head gasket leak on the exhaust side and it is blowing out the tailpipe ? And I must be out of touch with modern times but I have no idea what you are talking about with correct language. I guess I need to get out more.
  21. Maybe a 56 with a 55 title. not sure where the vin plate was on those cars or how they were secured. I do like that style and had considered buying one a few times .
  22. Correction on last post it should have read ratio 3.31 or 3.7. This is one option I am looking at. I also have a 63 dodge d100 with a newer unknown rear that I am considering may try to use the whole power train from that. The jeep is in real nice condition except for the seized engine so not sure if I want to part it which I would then consider using the rear or just sell or maybe trade it for a older mopar as I hate to rip it apart as it has been well taken care of.
  23. From some additional reading I see AMC use a 3.73 or 3.75 depending on the option package in the early 80 cherokee. I need to get under and see which rear
  24. The bolt pattern on this rear I have should be the same as the p15 from what I have read but need to slip on a wheel to be sure. Found answer to the 904 trans the cheorkee had a different housing then the mopars so the trans is not a direct fit.
  25. I have been reading many of the post in search mode but need to ask a question. I have a 85 Cherokee which I believe has a Dana 35 rear which measures to about 60.75 wide would that be a good swap for a P15 rear and while I am on the subject it also has a Chrysler 904 auto trans that right now is mated to a 2.8 chevy engine would this trans match of the the flathead or better yet to a 318 ? Ed
