  1. Looks like cotton candy. Hopefully nobody sugared the tank and that's why the engine was pulled but I would bet on spiders first since it is only one plug. The .025 gap would be correct for non resistor plugs I believe.
  2. I don't think it will change the color because the steel won't soak in the poly but it should give it some depth which may lend to some highlights. When I put some clear on it we'll find out.
  3. Battery load test, starter load test and timing would be what I would check to start with. I know you stated that you rebuilt the starter and I don't doubt your abilities but if you did not check the resistance in your field windings and armature there could be a problem there that's not visible to the eye.
  4. Thanks, I used a 1-1/2" wide natural bristle brush and applied a coat of the Minwax woodstain on the whole part. Next I shook out the brush and went around the part again then shook out the brush again. I repeated that process until enough of the stain was removed and I had the desired effect. I'm going to try a sponge for my next piece but it will be a few days before that happens. I let the Krylon spray paint dry for three days before applying the stain. The next piece will be my rear window trim.
  5. Please look at my first attempts at woodgraining some trim on my P15 business coupe. Contstructive criticism, suggestions and compliments welcome. I used Krylon Khaki as a base color and Minwax Classic Grey 271 for the grain. There is no clear on it yet, I'm just experimenting.
  6. My R45's that I got from Rock Auto were gapped pretty close to .035" which is the correct gap for resistor plugs. I don't know why yours would be gapped at .050".
  7. The U shaped slots on the tool are what's used to bend the electrode, the wire loops are for checking the gap. One more thing never bang your spark plug on any thing it will possibly crack the porcelain and cause it to misfire.
  8. All american P15's have the same wheelbase excluding limos or specialty made bodies. The cab and rear side windows on the business coupe are shorter than the club coupe. I'm not sure about the trunk lid though.
  9. Looks good. What material did she use? Are the seats done to original material, if so what material and can you post some pictures?
  10. My work buys truck parts from Inland daily. We're in Frontenac, Ks. and we get our spring work done in Joplin, Mo..
  11. Do you have a spring shop in your area? If you do they can re-arch or de-arch your springs to your specs and are usually pretty reasonable. Having a 2" lean to one side I would venture a guess that you have a broken spring on that side or the person who owned the car before you was extremely heavy.
  12. Well I received my windshield glass on 8-15-2017 a full week after it was supposed to be here. I was lied to about the time it was shipped, that along with the poor attitude has convinced me to use a different vendor if at all possible in the future. In my opinion to lie to your customer is uncalled for, when I'm lied to I lose trust in whomever lied to me. I was always polite and respectful in my correspondence, so to be treated that way was unprofessional and unnecessary. On a brighter note, the glass fit fine, the rubber was a two piece item. There were no installation instructions with either glass or rubber so I downloaded instructions from Steele Rubber. I did not use the center rubber that Bernbaum's provided as it was too thick to mount the center divider bars and mirror mount. Luckily I had ordered one from Rock Auto that worked. I had to trim and fit the rubber to length and glued them together with black trim adhesive then let them sit overnight before I installed. My wife and I installed it on 8-17-17, per the instructions from Steele, then I drilled the center divider rubber and installed the bars and mirror the next morning. I am pleased to say that there are no leaks.
  13. X2 on what AndyDodge and ptwothree said. Also double check the fuel line, hose and the fuel pump. After 30 years sitting there's bound to be more wrong than just a worn out carb. If all that has been found to be good a new throttle shaft can be made with relative ease at most competent machine shops. Good luck and give us some more symptoms maybe we can help.
  14. I'm not saying that I'm unhappy at this point as I have ordered from them previously and everything was fine. It's just as a person that has dealt with people in a professional matter for the last 20 some odd years I know that your public persona is something that is important. Basically what I'm saying is that you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. Service is only part of the business. Friendly and informative communication is another part along with quality products, timely delivery and competitive pricing.
  15. I recently ordered one along with new windshields from Andy Bernbaums. I have received my rubber parts but not the glass. I called this morning and talked to Chris and as mentioned before his bedside manner was not real pleasant. Time will tell if everything fits right. I'll let you know how it goes.
  16. Hey guys, thanks for all the kind replies. A little background on this car is in order. I inherited it from my father after his death many years ago. My wife always liked the car and the visor just as my dad did. I kept it running through the years but the brakes were always a problem. You'll notice the damage to the front left fender, that was a result of said brakes. I had run out of gas and my brother was towing me home when the brakes decided to go out. I had not driven it since that time about 10 years ago. Now that it is back on the road again it feels really good. Ranger, that is a nice '36 and yes we have lots of trees in southeast Kansas. Medium Jon, I'll have to give my wife the credit for the photos she has an eye for that sort of thing. dpollo, I'm a couple hours south of Bucyrus, but it's always nice to hear of fellow Mopar owners in the area. Is he a member on this forum? Knuckelharley, I've read and enjoyed lots of your comments and topics on here. My brother has a couple of '33 Plymouths that were my dads also that he has kept running and driving through the years too.
  17. Got to drive the '48 around a little today. Still lots of work to do but at least it's mobile and safe.
  18. When I first started mine this year after it sat for about three months without being started my fuel pump acted like it was bad. I disassemled it and cleaned it with carb cleaner and it started working just fine. Might try that first as you can bench test it after cleaning.
  19. They are a standard pipe plug. You should be able to find them at a hardware store with the screws or in the plumbing section. Spray them with some PB Blaster or something similar and let them set a while then they should come out. They are most likely cast iron.
  20. Well you stated above that it is a canvas for you to do as you like. That not only applies to the paint job it applies to the whole car, drive train, interior etc.. Good luck and have fun with it. And as always show us some pictures please.
  21. Good info Andy, thanks.
  22. See the reply by B-Watson, it's ID is 14 on the topic. It shows the serial numbers for the corresponding years.
  23. You wouldn't happen to have a print or a sketch of that support would you?
