  1. Very cool graph...can't read the numbers but really cool graph.......
  2. Go for it! If you need some inspiration....
  3. ...form follows function......
  4. ...words have meaning........ Your 277 is of the 'A' engine family (277,301,303, 313, 318, 326), called the 'Poly', and used from 1956 through 1966, in Plymouth, Dodge and Dodge Trucks. Chrysler and DeSoto did not use the A engine. There are significant differences with the bellhousing bolt pattern and the crankshaft for the 1962 model year so engine swaps must bear this in mind. As mentioned, replacement parts are readily available with the exception of particular pieces like the pistons. If you determine that the list of needed engine parts is getting expensive then consider shopping for another engine and, perhaps, a post-62 engine would be worth the extra labour..... Craigslist is your friend. Also as mentioned, since you have the v-8 already it would be easier to keep it instead of gathering the needed parts to install an L6.
  5. Yes, the converter/fluid coupler is huge and the 8-bolts are needed to keep it all together. The one item not yet mentioned is that there is a difference in flywheels between the 208-218 and everything else. Using a 218 flywheel on one of the other engines will likely cause problems with starter engagement.
  6. Good to hear of your progress!
  7. You might change the title to indicate 't-5' since there are many trans conversions available...
  8. Good idea dale. 40plyguy, take a 2nd look at the 260 block and make sure that you have ears on the side of the block....generally, 1956 had them, 1955 did not. The 260 shares all of the bits n pieces with the 241 and 270. Keep in mind that MaMopar actually used the same ID on different blocks; a P27 could be a 241 or a 260 for example and one block casting, 1632229, was used for both 260 and 270. The back of the block/crank is the same for all pre-62 v-8 (except the B/RB)(except 51-53 331) so plenty of bellhousings and transmissions to pick from. In stock form, the 260 is not a power-house, but with a few goodies......
  9. ...so you quoted something else that you found on the www...? And that excuses it ...? The A-engines slowly replaced the polyspherical-head (“single-rocker”) V-8 engines: 277, 301, 331, and 354. The 277 is in fact an 'A' engine; the 301 could also be an 'A' since '301' was found in the Plymouth A engine series but it was also used in its single year production for the 1955 Windsor under the Spitfire label. So to which is the quote referring to? The single biggest problem in todays world is that far too many folks, of ALL ages, believe everything they read/hear without having the instinct to verify the claim. The moon landing was a Hollywood set. Al Gore famously saying the he invented the internet. Time magazine, circa 1972, warning us all of the coming ice-age. The list is endless. Please don't perpetuate it.
  10. Yeah....not quite young grasshopper...... Fire Dome is a DeSoto Hemi. Fire Power is the Chrysler Hemi and what the hell is a Power Dome? Please don't add mis-information to the www, there is enough already.......
  11. ...sure looked like a 'joint' laying on the bathroom floor..... Actually, I'm amazed that Esso bothered to film this.
  12. No apologies needed. You are blessed to find a wife who supports your dream so let the rest of the stuff fall into place in its own time.
  13. No way that I'd trust the remaining 4 to not develop the same cracks. ...and going from 050 to 060 is more of a hone job than a bore job. You could take the opportunity to buy some 050 forgings and push the c/r up to something usable....
  14. The r-10 can be also swapped trans to trans. The basic requirements are that the bell fit the block, that you have a flywheel that fits the crank and the bell, that the splines on the input shaft land where the clutch disc splines are located, and, that the trans fit the bell.
  15. ...after 9 months, I'm guessing that the OP has moved on to other projects....
  16. ...no weight limits on the Priority flat rate boxes........
  17. I ship a lot of stuff...... If you use spray foam you will need to use the Blue Can (limited expansion, small 'push'). You will need to spray in lifts so the box does not distort. If you fill the box with foam and close the lid it may, or may not, cure as it needs air. If you use a bigger box you could just use lots of foam peanuts.
  18. Looks good!
  19. The shiverlay axle will have a different wheel bolt pattern....consider changing to a late model Cherokee or Explorer.
  20. Stay away from the shiverlay parts swaps, the s-10 is simply too narrow for the car and it will look goofy. As mentioned, if you want to swap to a modern ifs then look hard at the Gen-I Dakota. Very doable and several benefits.
  21. Driveshaft 'phase' is the relationship of one u-joint to the next and whether or not they are positioned-aligned the same in the tube.
  22. That cutter/crimper is similar to my MSD #3500 tool. My MSD is something like 30 years old so cannot say what is current. As said, troll ebay-amazon.
  23. ...well Jeff, you won't see too many 4-link set-ups or severely lowered rides on this forum so don't be too disappointed by lack of response. Yes, the Explorer axle is an excellent unit and is used by many Mopar folks due to the low cost, modern design and ready availability at the local pick-n-pull. Choice of drum and disc, same bolt pattern as our Mopes as well as good gear ratios doesn't hurt. Please do not take the next comment in a negative way.......if you need to ask how hard a 4-link set-up is to install then you are probably not up to the task...
  24. If you are anywhere close to where I am in life then you have a lot more sand in the bottom of your hour hour-glass than in the top so the cost can become secondary to the amount of time wasted screwing around looking for what you need. If you can afford the Texas parts then go for it!
  25. So, the purchase and delivery of both rigs would be $4750? Have you found any other PH in your area for similar money? I'd expect that a Dak donor would be cheap in the salted regions. The big question is whether or not you are equipped to start and finish the DAK swap. I'll suggest that you contact some of the guys who have actually made it happen before diving into the project unless you have the 'right-stuff'..... Personally, I am a fan of the resto-mod trucks since it actually makes a pretty good (usable) rig. As said, your money, your time.
