  1. Nah....Most of these products on photos are not available outside US. Also his oven is in Fahrenheit.
  2. No not really. He's writing about 6v Generator vs 12v alternator. Both will drag.
  3. And fluid coupler, water pump, cold engine oil and so on, but no voltage change or fuel modification will change that.
  4. Mixture too lean. If carb is cleaned by ultrasonic, then probably your float needs adjustment.
  5. My car is 6 volts with no parasitic drag. Definitely cheaper to fix your generator.
  6. List is called Standard Parts List and covers all MoPar. It's a separate list used with Standard Parts List. I have the list, unfortunately it's larger than than max total size allowed here. Photo of cover.
  7. Don't know about others but here's my reply . This is an example for bolt N from your list. Mine will differ as it's a 41:
  8. Nice work but all this info is in Standard Parts List. ? Are you aware stainless are significantly weaker than hardened steel fasteners? Of course they will work for sheet parts, but we aware using them otherwise.
  9. Don't know what your highway speeds are, but my 41 towed this converted vintage all metal horse trailer 470 Miles several times for the Old Style Weekend rally in Sweden doing 62 Mph with no issues other than frequently stops at gas stations.
  10. Don't know if this info will help, but according to my part list, there were several different shocks offered in 1941. Super Control, Commercial Duty, Extreme Duty, Special Oversize. Also for 7 pass. limo and station wagon have their own. Together were 2 different studs sizes. I don't think length was different, but can't say for sure. According to Mitchell's, 1937-50 all use same shock.
  11. Read somewhere not all grease types will do. Isn't there a special grease for this?
  12. Of course shocks where within range at mid resting point. I just needed a few inches lift when towing.
  13. My friend's 49 DeSoto also uses Mechanic style u-joints, but they differ form mine as these do not have bolt holes, but rather retaining brackets. Don't know if it's a DeSoto thing or a pre-post war thing. According to professor Kelly, pressing a u-joint on caps will destroy bearings
  14. I also needed new rear shocks some years ago. Spare parts for these old girls are limited here where I live. Typically after ordering you need to wait 3-4 weeks to find out parts don't fit. Didn't want to experience that with heavy shocks (freight and all). Also I sometimes tow my camper or MC trailer and don't want the sagging look. I purchased a pair of Gabriel Hi-Jackers. Now level is always correct.
  15. Had a 1955 DeSoto Firedome some years ago. Only a 291 cui but it ran great. One day I stumbled over a 1939 LaSalle, and had to let it go
  16. As you know, VOM, digital and analog are not suited for low resistance measuring du to instrument high impedance. For precise measuring you want a Wheatstone bridge. Yes I know, no one including myself would even bother
  17. Ticks can also be fuel pump and fan belt, especially the modern cogged ones. Greg G has a good list. I might add an item I have in all my cars. A disposable hazmat suit. When I drive these classics, I'm always wearing my best. In case you need to lie under car. Cost around $10.
  18. i love electricity because like mathematics, it's logic, meaning there are formulas and rules that cannot be changed. Its laws are not governed by human feelings, nationality, tradition or other fluid ideas. Ohms law is untouchable since creation of earth. I hope my wordings are understandable
  19. The Auto-Lite and Chrysler sheets is my authoritative. Pertronix data was for fun and info as stated. 40011,40001 and 40111 coils are 1.5 Ohms used for 6 cylinder 6 volts. 45011,45001 and 45111 coils are 0.6 Ohms used for 8 cylinder 6 volts. You can't mix voltages
  20. I don't have this spring setup on mine as mentioned earlier, mine goes to frame, but it looks correct if you compare to Junckers photo and this drawing. This drawing is for your post war model. Spring looks a bit .......what's the word...loose? But as long as it works, it's probably ok. Notch in bracket is for spring coil winding edge. Hope you understand me. As you probably have noticed, English is not my first language When you mount shift linkages, bell crank will position accordingly.
